Gil heard a knock on his door and quickly pulled on a pair of jeans, then opened the door revealing a distraught Catherine Willows. "Cath?" He questioned, inquisitive as to the tears staining her typically cheerful and glowing face. Moving aside, she walked past him and stood motionless in the middle of his living room.

Walking over to her, and rubbing her shoulders, Gil turned her to face him; taken aback by her puffy eyes and unraveling composure. "Cath, what happened?" he questioned again, this time with anger towards whatever or whoever reduced her to this; not seeing such obvious pain since Eddie's death.

OH, WHY YOU LOOK SO SAD?

TEARS ARE IN YOUR EYES

COME ON AND COME TO ME NOW

DON'T BE ASHAMED TO CRY

LET ME SEE YOU THROUGH

'CAUSE I'VE SEEN THE DARK SIDE TOO

WHEN THE NIGHT FALLS ON YOU

YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO

NOTHING YOU CONFESS

COULD MAKE ME LOVE YOU LESS

I'LL STAND BY YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU

WON'T LET NOBODY HURT YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU

Catherine closed her eyes, took a ragged breath and began to ramble. "He saw me as a stripper, nothing more. I thought maybe, for once, I found someone who liked me for me, but he just wanted sex. That's it Gil, sex. He took one look at me and determined I'd be a good piece of ass. I had dinner with him tonight, he-he asked me to strip for him, and I saw the look in his eyes, the same one Eddie used to get. A look that was hollow, but evil you know? I couldn't believe it, and I tried to tell him no, but he got angry started throwing things around. He was wild, and for a split second, it was just like the nights Eddie would come home drunk, I began to cry and just curled up in the corner wishing he'd stop. Then he left, left me alone like everyone has and will." She spit out with anger and sorrow. Breaking down she let Gil embrace her as he tried to calm her.

SO IF YOU'RE MAD, GET MAD

DON'T HOLD IT ALL INSIDE

COME ON AND TALK TO ME NOW

HEY, WHAT YOU GOT TO HIDE?

I GET ANGRY TOO

WELL I'M A LOT LIKE YOU

WHEN YOU'RE STANDING AT THE CROSSROADS

AND DON'T KNOW WHICH PATH TO CHOOSE

LET ME COME ALONG

'CAUSE EVEN IF YOU'RE WRONG

I'LL STAND BY YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU

WON'T LET NOBODY HURT YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU

TAKE ME IN, INTO YOUR DARKEST HOUR

AND I'LL NEVER DESERT YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU

As her sobbing ceased to a mere hiccup here and there, Gil picked her up and placed her on the couch, holding her close. "Catherine, I don't see you as only a stripper. I like you for you and I'll never, ever leave you. You are a strong, beautiful woman, a great mom and my best friend. This guy missed out on seeing what I get to see every single day, and I thank God for it. I don't ever want to lose you, and for a bit, I thought I did lose you… to him. I love you Catherine. I'll never let you cry again, do you hear me? Never, you'll never have to be sad, never have to be lonely, because I'll stand by you no matter what" Gil waited for a response and swallowed hard, shocked at what he had just admitted. When he didn't receive and answer, he looked down and sighed when his eyes fell upon her sleeping form. Wiping away her remaining tears and hugging her close, he whispered "I'll stand by you

AND WHEN...

WHEN THE NIGHT FALLS ON YOU, BABY

YOU'RE FEELING ALL ALONE

YOU WON'T BE ON YOUR OWN

I'LL STAND BY YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU

WON'T LET NOBODY HURT YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU

TAKE ME IN, INTO YOUR DARKEST HOUR

AND I'LL NEVER DESERT YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU

WON'T LET NOBODY HURT YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU

WON'T LET NOBODY HURT YOU

I'LL STAND BY YOU
