Disclaimer: I do not own the Harry Potter idea, etc.
NOTE: The plot has changed. Sorry to those who wanted the historical twist to the story. I hope to update in a week or so. Thanks for reading and please review.
NEW YORK CITY, 2003.
In a top-selling girl magazine headquarters, there's bound to be one girl from the photographers to the editors suffering a breakdown because of getting dumped by a two-week boyfriend or worse, gaining two pounds overnight. Kleenex here, Kleenex there. Even the advice columnists gave up on finding a cure for the common tears faced by their then-love-struck colleagues every single day. Luckily for Senior Food & Health editor, Virginia Weasley, the love bug hasn't gotten to her system just yet.
Ginny, as she was called by close friends and family, was planning a bridal shower for her best friend, Hermione Granger. Hermione is engaged to Ron, Ginny's older brother. Ginny and Hermione have been friends since their story in Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry.
Being the maid-of-honor, Ginny helped in all of the preparation for the upcoming wedding. For the bridal shower, she got loads of freebies from companies who want to advertise in LOLLI.
'Hmm. What do we have here?' Ginny opened a cute pink box from Food-To- Impress, Inc. 'No-bake Tofu Cheesecake. ugh' Her freckled nose took a sniff of the product and Ginny decided, against her will, to taste it.
"It actually tastes good but my little Mandy's try at gingerbread cookies is better." Ginny chuckled as she told Annie of the pressing bridal shower. Annie, editor for fashion, was looking at her with a strange knowing smile plastered on her face.
"Girl, you are forgetting something and I hope you're not too late."
Then it hit her: today is Mandy's school play. She just can't miss it. Ginny hurriedly ran out of the office after thanking Annie. The most important day in her daughter's life shouldn't be a day of disappointment.
'If only he was here.' Ginny thought of the man who left her after discovering that they created a life one midsummer's night. Ginny despised him with all her heart and soul. Life was tough to her. All the humiliation and shame she brought to the Weasley name was more than what she could handle. Despite Molly and Arthur's acceptance of the baby, Ginny decided to stay in Muggleland to protect her child from gossips and intrigues. Hermione helped her get jobs to support Mandy. For all the pains and troubles she became a stronger woman but she ain't thanking the man responsible for her woes.
Ginny quietly entered the pre-school's mini-theater. The show already started and it was hard to find a nice vacant seat in the dark. Finally, Ginny found one although someone already occupied the seat next to it.
"Is somebody sitting here?" Ginny asked the raven-haired stranger. As he faced her, Ginny's heart skipped a beat. It was he. Those green orbs she knew too well were staring back at her in shock and surprise. He hasn't changed a bit, maybe a little leaner. Ginny prayed it was a nightmare she'd wake up from but deep inside of her was a longing that this was a dream for forever.
"Ginny-"
"Harry."
