"Ino-chan...We should go now." Shikamaru's gruff voice quietly told the blonde. It was raining, pouring, and Ino's black dress was clinging to her lithe form. She didn't move, all the kunoichi did was kneel at her late teammate's grave.
"Shut up, Shikimaru." she whispered. She still held a slight grudge against the lazy boy, he was the leader of the five-man team and let Chouji die, in her iron-willed opinion. Chouji died for his teammates and Ino just couldn't accept that he was really gone. "If you want to leave, then leave!"
Shikamaru sighed. There was no winning with Ino. He kneeled next to her and stared at the fresh roses Ino brought from the flower shop that day. It had been a year since Chouji was brought back to Konohagakure...A year since team ten was broken apart completely. All that was left was a bad memory.
Shikamaru looked over at Ino. She was sobbing again. She constantly cried now, so out of character for the loud-mouthed girl. It broke Shikamaru's heart every time to see her delicate form hunched over and her chest racked with sobs.
"Why, Shiki...Why did Chouji have to die...And...And all for..." Ino wailed, "All for that bastard Uchiha!"
Shikamaru was shocked, since when did Ino blame Sasuke? But that didn't matter, what mattered was that Ino was still crying. Shikamaru grabbed his friend and held her close. "It's okay, Ino...Chouji...He died happy...He won...."
Ino looked up, hysterical. "Happy?! He WON?! You're starting to sound like Sasuke! Since when do you care about winning?! Since when did CHOUJI care about winning?! I swear, you've completely changed, Nara Shikamaru!" Ino cried as she jumped up, prepared to slap the pony-tailed boy. Shikamaru jumped up after her, and as she was about to strike him he grabbed her arm.
"Ino, I don't know if you noticed, but I'm not the only one who has changed! What about you?! All you do is mope around and cry! Since when did you become so WEAK?!" Shikamaru wished he hadn't said those dreadful words as soon as they flew out of his cursed mouth.
Ino's face twisted in anger, tears still streaming down her face. How dare he call her weak?! She tried to pull her arm out of his grasp but he held tight.
"If you can get your arm back, I'll take back what I said." Shikamaru sighed. Ino still wouldn't admit she was weak, that was good, perhaps she hadn't completely changed, after all.
Ino forgot about being weak and just sobbed. If Chouji were still here they wouldn't be fighting...They'd be happy and eating at the bar-b-que, making fun of Chouji for being a fat ass and teasing Shikamaru for being a lazy ass.
Ino clung to Shikamaru's chest. She missed how things were, she missed old times.
"Hey, you two, are you done with all this drama? My cig is getting wet..." a voice complained about ten feet behind the two. The two had forgottten all about their sensei, who had beenn standing behind them the whole time.
Asuma sighed, "So much tension...A ninja should never fight amungst his comrades."
"Shut up, 'Suma." Shikamaru glared and hugged Ino tighter.
Ino looked back to Chouji's gravestone and whispered something under her breath, "See what's become of us, now that you're gone?"
