She Said All the Right Things
Chapter Two: Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow
Disclaimer: I don't own Lord of the Rings.
A/N: This chapter is extremely short. Don't worry, they'll get longer again next chapter. It will be about Merry's thoughts and feelings as Estella shows up at Bag End. Namarie, mellon nins!
To My Reviewers:
MeregrinBrandytook:Jedi-Hobbit: Well, of course i'm gonna continue it! Glad you liked it, and I hope you like this chapter, however short it is, as much as you did the first one. It's just a small flashback, but I love flashbacks, so here it is!
Aymie: Once again, sorry I couldn't email you this chapter like you wanted, but it just wouldn't be fair to readers, would it? Here it is, in all its short glory. Thanks for the good review!
Mornie-Rin: LOL Chris. Next chappie, coming up. Read it, and hopefully fanfiction.net doesn't send me 40 of your same review again. LOL.

*Flashback*
"Merry, where are you going? Why can't you tell me?" an angry, distressed Estella cried, running down the lane that left Buckland, and went toward Hobbiton. Merry had mounted a pony and was about to leave, and he looked down at her with an unreadable expression.
"I cannot tell you why I go , Estella. Or to where, except that I go to visit cousin Frodo for a bit. Can you wait for me? I shan't be gone long." he said, trying to be calm. She was not in the mood to deal with his trying to be civil.
"You....you're going to leave the Shire, Merry! I can see it in your eyes! Please don't go! You shan't come back! Or, if you shall go...take me with you!" she cried. He looked down at her, now there was anger in his eyes.
"You cannot go, Estella. Go home. If I am to leave the Shire, what business is it of yours? You can rest assured I shall return. Why must you worry so much? It is rather annoying, you know." he said, an edge to his voice.
"Annoying? ANNOYING? Annoying is when you run off and don't tell me where, or why you're leaving. I thought we were friends, Merry. But I guess I've been wrong. Go, and if you should come back, I expect you to tell me exactly where you went and why. But do not be surprised if your return is not welcome. The shadow grows closer." she said, hateful. She turned and walked briskly back up the path to her home, fuming. Merry pulled the reins of his pony and set off, without looking back.

Estella was remembering the horrible parting she and Merry had given each other, and felt a heart-wrenching sadness. She had been too overbearing...but was it wrong to wish to know where her friend was going? She had only ever cared about him, and considered him her closest friend. Suddenly she decided that she was sick and tired of this slavery concept. Why did she have to do all this? After all, this was her home, and not that Saruman's place of torment. Why could she not walk around and do as she pleased? She stood straight, and started walking away. Jalen had fallen asleep. A feeling of power took her over; she would not stand idly by and allow all this slavery to happen anymore. She made her way to Bag End.
