~ Hatred in my Heart ~ Part I

On this day, the hues of light blues and paled yellows are strung together in the sky, causing bands of magnificent light to shine across the afternoon sky. And on the mortal ground there is an icy, yet almost welcoming wind, billowing out across the waves of grass and weed.

A figure stands isolated in the middle of the ocean of green grass. Her long ebony hair dances with the breeze. Her white and crimson outfit is swaying and there is just a hint of a smile on her face. She seems as innocent as any other person does. Yet in the palm of her hand, she held unimaginable and divine powers.

"He really must want to be with me, if he is willing to give up his demon powers. . .just for me." She thought, squeezing the object in her hand, "I can finally have a normal life, I will mean more to someone then just the jewel protector."

*~*~*~*

For her whole life, Kikyou has been the protector of the sacred Jewel of Four Souls. Whether it was destiny or a cruel fate it had been always up to her.

Everyday of her childhood she had had to get up and practice her bow and arrow, her sacred spells and learn the special incantations. Every single day she watched the kids outside playing and frolicking, wondering if she could ever be one of them.

Deep in her heart, she knew she would never be the same as them. She was not necessarily an outcast, just lonely, she had a few friends from the village but no one special or close in particular.

She'd destroy demons that were threatening the village, she'd purify the evil karma, the village knew her and respected her.

But who understood her?

On a fateful day, upon sensing an evil about, Kikyou grabbed her bow and arrow, ready to eliminate the demon for today. The aura got stronger as she entered the forest, she got ready to shoot at the next moving object.

But the object did not move. In fact it lay still on the ground, dried blood and fresh blood was all over this objects clothing. Kikyou knew at once it was a demon, but somehow something was wrong in the scent of his blood. She figured he couldn't be much of a threat, he looked about the age of Kikyou after all.

She carefully picked him up, she knew better then to let her guard down because demons were not to be trusted. Kikyou pitied the demon stranger, left out on his own, she decided to try to heal him anyway. Regardless of the fact that they were opposites.

His wounds were deep, as she had originally suspected. Incredibly, a young demon like him survived the attack. But what was more surprising was how his body already started to heal on his own. Kikyou had never treated a demon before, after all there was no need.

As the day progressed, Kikyou changed his bandages frequently to prevent an infection. Near dusk, as she was cleaning his wounds with water she saw his eyes flutter slowly open.

"Hello." She said quietly, trying not to frighten him, "My name is Kikyou, who are you?"

"I'm Inuyasha, where am I?" he said, a tad bit hoarse.

"You're in my village, I found you lying on the ground cut up and bruised and I brought you back to heal your wounds." She said calmly, "What were you doing all alone out there? Shouldn't your mother or father be protecting you?"

"I don't have a mother." He said, "Or father."
