He never understood why Men sought immortality. They looked upon it as if it were a gift. A treasure.
But he knew better.
Perpetual life was a curse, especially if one lived among the mortal. To look around, and watch everyone you know and hold dear age and die, was a hell more painful than any of Man's religions could think up. He did not have the luxury of waiting for death, for it would never come. He could only watch time's effects upon all around him, watch Men find relief from their pain at last.
But he lived on.
