The Boondocks: Where are their Parents?

Disclaimer: I do not own the Boondocks Aaron Mcgruder does

Introduction:

Huey Freeman, his brother Riley and his grandfather recently moved from the south side of Chicago to a small suburban, mostly white community in New Jersey. Although it has been tough, the Freeman family has been able to gradually adjust to their new life. And now on with the story

For Huey Freeman, today was just like any other; he got up, got dressed, ate breakfast, and went to the bus stop, where he would meet his best friend Cesar.
"Sup Huey" Cesar said
"Not much" Huey replied "Hey Huey, yo mama's so fat she make's Jabba the Hutt look anorexic" Normally, Huey just ignored these little jokes that his friend made from time to time. He knew that Cesar was only kidding and didn't really mean anything by that joke. Boys make jokes like that all the time with their friends. However, today Huey realized something; he hasn't seen either of his parents since he was about three years old. He had been raised by his grandfather for almost as long as he could remember. His only memory of them was as faded as the only picture he had of his parents. In fact whenever he asked his grandfather about his parents, all he ever said was "Your parents are off doing important things and they'll be back real soon." While this provided him with some closure and peace of mind as a small child, Huey was getting older and thought that he deserved to know what really happened to his parents. Sometimes Huey would lay awake at night and wonder what his parents were like, what did they do for a living? What type of "important things" were they doing all these years? And perhaps the biggest question of all was why did they abandon him and his younger brother? Huey had made up his mind, when he got home from school, he was going to ask his grandfather and finally get the answers to the questions that he has been pondering all of his life. That Afternoon when Huey got home from school, he knew that he had to find his grandfather and get the truth about what happened to his parents. He found his grandfather in his usual spot, asleep on the sofa with the TV turned on to BET. "Grandpa wake up" Huey said "What the, who what where" grandpa shouted in a dazed and confused state. "Oh it's you, home from school already?" "Yeah I am, ummm... Grandpa there's something I gotta ask you" Huey hesitated as he began to ask the most difficult question of his life. "Ok what it is it boy" "Grandpa, where are my parents?" "Now I done told you boy, your parents are off doing some very important things and they'll be home soon" "Grandpa you've been telling me and my brother the same thing for the past eight years, we want to know what really happened to them". Huey's voice was starting to become increasingly angrier
"Where is your brother anyway?" Grandpa said trying to change the subject. "Come on now, you know his wannabe gangsta ass is in detention right now"
"Watch your language damn it; I oughta wash your mouth out with soap!" "Quit trying to change the subject I want the truth about my parents, I have to know what really happened to them"
"You want the truth! You want the truth! You can't handle the truth" "Grandpa, I'm an eleven year old black revolutionary who's being watched by the FBI even as we speak, I think I can handle the truth about my parents"
"Well ok Huey if that's what you want then fine, I'll tell you the whole story about your parents"
