Ch. 1 The Letter
BANG! Harry woke with a start. He looked around his bedroom. His alarm clock read 7:12. Hedwig was at the window with three letters. Harry got out of bed groggily.
"Hedwig! It took you forever to deliver those letters for me. What do you have here?" Harry took the letters from his snowy owl and patted her appreciatively. One of the letters was from Ron, another from Hermione. The last letter had the Hogwart's seal.
Harry threw the letters aside. He hadn't felt like doing much of anything ever since his godfather Sirius had died. He started to shake as he thought about that night. He decided to go downstairs to breakfast.
"Boy, are you up yet?" Harry's uncle called up the stairs as Harry started to head down. "Yes," Harry yelled back. "Well hurry up. We're going out today." "I don't want to..." Harry was cut off. "I wasn't inviting you," his uncle sneered. "Fine." Harry muttered, going to his room.
Harry sat on his bed reading his letters from his two best friends. Harry wasn't allowed to go to Grimmauld Place with them at the moment. Harry then slowly opened the letter, dreading O.W.L. results, thinking about how happy Hermione would be. It was quite the opposite from O.W.L. results.
Dear Mr. Potter,
You are to report back to Hogwarts on July 30th. You will catch the train as usual on Platform 9 3/4. We will explain when you get here. Your only new item is Defeating the Dark Arts by D.E.F. Eatevil. We look forward to seeing you again. Have a pleasant rest of your summer. Sincerely,
