"YOU ARE A BITCH!!" I mouthed across the room to my very best gal pal Jessica, or Jessi, as she prefers to be called. She grabs her heart as if my words had wounded and...loses her balance and fell out of her seat. I take this opportunity to throw my shoe at her. I missed of course but you cant win em' all can you? Mrs. Dorski glares over her desk.
"If you to cant behave in class then you can practice in detention." She said impressively as if she was sentencing us a horrible punishment. I laugh and roll my eyes. Like we would bother showing up anyways. Mrs. Dorski turns her back to us, and starts writing our assignment on the chalk bard.
O great. An essay about the Renaissance. History is in the past, who actually cares what happened a couple hundred years ago. Jessi climbs back up into her seat. Her dark curls falling over her sharp pointed face. She kinda looks life a demented elf. But whatever you do, don't tell her that. She'll kick u hard. Trust me.
I took a look at the clock. O my god, we still have twenty minuets left. I sighed I'll write Jessi a note to help pass the time. I pull out of my binder a slightly crumpled piece of paper with one of the corners ripped off. I also took out my favorite blue sparkly pen and stated writing.
Hey Jessi, whatz up gangsta? I'm good, but except for the baboon
yelling at up. Detention!!! O NO!!! God, what a bitch!! And why the
hell dose she wear those short sleeved shirts? SHES OLD!!! So do you
still like Even? I think he's ewie but what ever floats your boat. He
seriously looks like a werewolf. Needs and 2 pluck his eyebrows, but
not with a razor!! Remember when I accidentally shaved one of mine
off? It took forever to grow back!! Yeah that wasn't good. Well its
only second period so I'll see you in three more periods. Love yah
bunches!! And actually write back this time you weenie!!
I folded the not and made eye contact with Jessi. She grinned and nodded her head. I glanced at Mrs. Dorski who was writing Renaissance on the chalkboard. I turned back to Jessi and chucked my beautifully worded note at her.
I watched in amusement as the note sailed across the room. But then, and this is where it get weird, it stopped. I swear! It just stopped in mid air! I stared at it as if I was hallucinating. Bewildered, I turned to Jessi for some sort of explanation, but she wasn't moving. She had this stupid grin plastered to her face. She was halve way raised out of her desk hand out stretched, for the paper. Her eyes unblinking clearly focused on the paper. But she wasn't moving. Just... frozen like.
I slowly turned my head and looked at the rest of my class. Alex's eyes were focused on the paper too, a thoughtful expression on his face, like he was debating whether to jump up and snatch the paper and read it. Next to him Roses pencil was raised above her paper as if she was preparing to write down the assignment. There was no movement from anyone at all. It was like someone had taken a picture, everyone was frozen it what they had been doing a few seconds earlier.
I looked over at Mrs. Dorski whose back was still turned to us. Her chalk was resting in the middle of an uncompleted letter E on the board. Her mouth was hanging open as if she was in the middle of saying something important.
Dead silence. Unreal silence. Unnatural silence. My brain was working so slowly, trying to grasp this unreal concept. No one could move. Could I move? I looked down at my hand and wiggled my fingers. So I could move. I stood up slowly and walked down the rows of desks. I creped down to were Jessi was.
"Jessi?" I whispered "What's wrong with you?" She didn't answer. She was still in the same position. Hand out reached. I looked over to where her fingers were just inches form grabbing the note. My trembling fingers reached out and touched her warm arm. Its not like she had turned to stone, its just like she couldn't move. I looked over to the paper. I uncertainly plucked it out of the air. I opened it, just to make sure it was really mine. My eyes scanned the familiar writing.
It was the second my eyes left that paper that the panic kicked in. People don't just freeze! They just don't!!! I put the paper in my back pocket. I have to find someone, I thought desperately. I slowly backed out of the room. As if I expected the statues to jump to life and attack me. As I walked down the hall I desperately looked in the other classrooms. But every room I looked in, was the same as my class. Unmoving.
I felt my feet pound on the hard floor. When did I start running? I was breathing hard. Adrenalin pounding in my veins.
Splish splash. I looked down to see the entire hall flooded with water. What? Flooded? When did the hall flood?
"What the hell!" I yelled. Then I blinked, and saw that the water was gone. I'm hallucinating, I thought weakly. I started screaming,
"Can anybody hear me? Help! Anybody, please!" Now I know what you are all thinking.
OMG, what a spaz. If it was me, Id be cool with it! Trust me, for those of you who have never truly been scared, it's a lot harder than you might think. But looking back, I think over all, I dealt with it rather well.
I don't know how long I just ran around desperately looking for any one, I probably never would have stopped if I hadn't run into to two very solid things.
"Ow!" I exclaimed as I fell onto my butt. I looked up to see just what I had run into. Two seniors had odiously ditched class to make out in the stair well. In spite of everything that was going on, I still wrinkled my nose in discussed. The guy hands were paused under the girl's shirt. My god!
I stood up slowly and decided to leave these two statues to be intimate. I ached from falling down. But the fall had helped clear my mind a bit.
Ok, ok, I thought, Deep breaths deep cleansing breaths. I looked over to my right past the couple and saw a door! Yes! The door into the faculty parking lot! Jessi and I once used it to escape from the janitor!
I rushed over to the door and tried to open it. It wouldn't budge. I threw my entire body weight, which isn't that much, onto the door. Still wont open. I muttered a few choice words at it, but decided to leave it, besides, the two seniors were starting to gross me out. As I climbed out of the stairwell, I looked for another door. But I quickly abandoned my search when I heard the sound padding of soft shoes on hard tile.
