Summary: The Eagles honor the Ringbearers with a special service...

'In the mountains the Eagles shall house, and hear the voices of those who call upon us.' Manwë, The Silmarillion

'Will he understand, Gandalf?' Frodo asked as he watched the wizard secure the small box onto the back of the great bird.
The eagle turned his head in Frodo's direction, and squawked, 'He will indeed understand me, Ringbearer.'
Gandalf smiled at the clear surprise he saw on the hobbit's face, answering Frodo's unspoken question, 'Yes, Frodo, you are able to understand Landroval because Manwe the Lord of Arda as ordained it and so it will be with Samwise.' The wizard finished with the box, and finally turned to face Frodo, 'All is ready with Landroval.'
Frodo nodded, and pulled out an envelope from his coat pocket, handing it to Gandalf, 'Here is my letter for Sam.' It was just one letter for now as Frodo had only been told of the Eagles' gift a few days ago. He had so much he wanted to say to Sam but could only find the words to compose this first brief letter. Within moments, Landroval had taken to the sky, and Frodo stood watching the eagle get smaller and smaller as he flew on the horizon towards the East -- towards Middle-earth. He watched until Bilbo called out from the Elven built hobbit hole.
'Frodo-lad, come on inside – it's time for tea!'
With one last long look towards the East, Frodo turned to go inside, 'I'm coming, Bilbo.'
To Be Continued...

Author's Note: I have made a few assumptions about the eagles and about their roles as the messengers of the Valar - I assumed they were allowed to fly into the West and I have also assumed they were able to return to Middle-earth after they delivered their messages.
