Release
By: Courtney Hill
When we have so many sorrows
We try to find an end to our woeful trials
Try to find a piece to hold on to
Someone to brighten our day
We immerse ourselves in the search
Like a hound who has caught a scent
A scent that lingers and smells so sweet
We become one track minded
When searching for release from the cold dark earth
That we forget the people who held our hand
We forget yet we remember when we are alone
Try as we might we can't find them again
Realizing then that we have lost our release
Deep sorrow we succumbed into
Because we lost our one precious thing
Now we wander hollowed out humans
Among a not quite perfect world
