The Darkness Inside of Her

Serena looked at the man as her transformation finished with a growing sense of excitement. It was the first time she had not bothered to create the illusion of the normal Sailor Moon and it came with its own delight of release. She was certain there were others in the area that were of this man's group, she could feel their presence and that they were coming closer. This did not bother her; in fact she looked forward to trying herself against others that she didn't have to hold back from. The dark ball of energy that floated over the man's hand flared just as she settled into a fighting stance.
"TIGER DEATH STRIKE" roared the man before unleashing the energies.
The power rocketed towards Serena forming two enormous claws that reached out for her. Serena sidestepped the strange attack barely, noting with a hint of concern that when the attack crashed into the trees behind her they ripped at least ten yards of foliage from the ground. Without hesitation Serena pooled her powers, momentarily shying from the unusual surge of her new combined energy.
"SHADOWED CAGE ENTRAP" She yelled releasing it with a backward swing of her hand.
She wasn't shocked when her opponent simply flipped over the attack, landing gracefully on the ground with a smirk on his face. Her attack dissipated as she recalled the energies from it. With a shrug she watched him waiting for his next attack. She was certain he would try another energy attack. When he launched himself bodily at her she tensed ready to defend herself. He threw a volley of punches aimed for her midsection, which she blocked easily. He backed off after a moment before slipping down and sideswiping at her legs. Prepared she jumped over his leg and sent her own foot into his neck, sending him rolling sideways before he recovered. He rubbed at his neck for a moment as he rose.
"Nice" He complimented.
"Try again?" She asked daringly.
"Of course." He agreed with a laugh.
She smiled as he came at her with a speed that was astounding.

Reaching the scene of a battle between a strange man and Serena would have been enough to make Darien pause before rushing to help. Seeing a Senshi that he had never set eyes on before, though he knew it had to be Sailor Moon, shocked him to a standstill. The two in the park traded blows back and forth, seeming matched in the fight. A strange sliver of the resentment that had crept into his voice earlier now pierced his heart as he watched the girl he had completely trusted in all matters that concerned them.
~ Why didn't she tell me?! ~ His mind screamed in hurt.
Startled gasps from behind him alerted him to the fact that the Senshi had caught up with him and were viewing the same unbelievable thing as he was. His mind tried to deny the sight but it had never been able to reject reality. More than one thing had changed with Serena and she had not felt the need to share with any of them.
"That's her," Trista confirmed tightly.
"The one from the Time Gate?" Amy asked in a small voice.
"Yes the same warrior. I do not understand this. Why did none of you tell me this had happened?" Trista asked.
"We didn't know Trista." Raye answered, angry.
"Why didn't she tell us?" Mina whined.
"Maybe she didn't want us to know. After everything that has happened with her lately maybe she just didn't think we would understand." Lita said.
"Well she should have told someone." Amara remarked acidly.
"Amara stop that doesn't help" Michele chided quietly.
"I'm not trying to help Michele. She acted like a child keeping this from them. You know how I feel about secrets." Amara replied.
Darien ignored the comments, thinking he should have known somehow. It hurt to think she had not trusted him with her secret but he was sure she had kept it to herself for a reason. There had been a time when he had kept things from her hoping to protect her and he refused to pass judgments without her side of the story. The heated discussion behind him continued until Amy interjected.
"You guys there are multiple readings in the park. That guy isn't alone." She said forcefully.
"Where?" Lita asked immediately.
"Behind you." Answered a male voice.
Darien spun with the others to regard four people that had skillfully snuck up on them as they had watched the fight that was still in progress. Directly in front of them stood a lanky man with long, shaggy brown hair who smirked at them. To the man's right stood a tall female with close- cropped brown hair that was peppered with black. On his left was another woman that was slightly shorter than the first with jet-black hair that swung free down her back. Behind the three stood a mountain of a man with thick dark red hair who stood with his arms crossed. All of the group were dressed in tight fitting black clothing.
"I feel an introduction is in order," stated the shorter of the men with a slight bow "I am Coyote. To my right and left are the beautiful Owl and Spider, terribly wicked women I assure you. The mammoth behind me is Bear, frightening isn't he?"
"To you maybe" Amara retorted with a snort.
Coyote smiled evilly, "To you he shall be as well pretty soul. I suspect my warm introductions will not be returned with courtesy. That is too bad, I have always thought that manners were the epitome of class."
Darien cast a glance behind him worriedly. Serena was still holding her own against her opponent but he could tell she was beginning to tire.
"We have no time for this Trista. We have to help Serena." He hissed at the Senshi who had come up beside him.
"Go help her Darien. We have this covered." Raye threw over her shoulder before stepping forward.
Darien cast a heartfelt mental thank you to Raye as he turned and strode purposely towards the combatants.
