The Darkness Inside of Her

The man, Bear, looked across the space between the two groups calmly. He had no real feeling one way or the other about the outcome of such a clash. His neutral concepts about the world had been why the Manitou had chosen him to complete the group. He waited patiently for the battle to begin. Coyote, the most excitable of them, would ensure a conflict happened. Bear studied each of the seven women closely.

~ They are very strong ~ He thought to himself.

~Their strength lies in their team. Separate them. ~ whispered the Manitou in his mind.

Bear contemplated the women longer, unwilling to commit himself to the idea that the Manitou had presented. Unlike the others of his team he was not ruled by passions, therefore never fully allowing the Manitou so deeply into his soul that he acted more like a puppet than an individual. The Manitou's influence was more of a simple empowering presence to him. Bear retained much that the others had thrown away without a second thought when they had been contacted by the entity.

~ You think their only strength is in working together? I think you underestimate the individual. ~ He thought at the Manitou.

~ Perhaps...there is only one-way to find out ~ was the entity's reply.

"What exactly is it you want?" asked the red clad warrior that had stepped forward.

"A small skirmish and then all of you inhabiting the Spirit Realm. I would think that much was obvious." Coyote replied.

Bear resisted the urge to knock the cocky man to the ground just on principle. He had never approved of arrogance in any for. Owl and Spider slowly began moving away for him, preparing for the fight. Bear kept his place unconcerned. A warrior with brown hair stepped up next to the first one.

"You are in for a big surprise," said this woman confidently.

Bear felt his brow furrow as the Manitou used him to sense the energies of these warriors more intimately. He knew that the spirit was uncertain about these energies, that it had no real concept of what powered the females. Apparently the entity had not encountered these types of powers before and was extremely curious about them.

~I must know them Bear...draw out of them what I need to know ~ insisted the Manitou.

Bear sighed internally, "It is not my way to fight those I do not know. Who are you women? What is this energy that I feel from you?"

This question seemed to take the women by surprise for they looked at each other wide eyed before looking back at him.

"You are kidding right?" asked a woman with long blonde hair without a hint of mockery.

"No, are you implying that I should?" Bear returned genially.

"We're the Sailor Scouts. Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune. I'm guessing but you guys aren't from around here are you?" Replied the red clad one, Mars.

~ Names of planets...does that mean they aren't from the earth? ~ Asked the Manitou.

~ I would imagine so. I doubt they are willing to go into the entirety of their pasts right before an unwarranted attack. ~ Bear cautioned.

~Very well it is enough for now ~

"Are we done here or do you want to continue the chit chat?" asked Coyote snidely.

Bear glared at the man who gulped and looked away quickly. He had noticed that the one called Mercury was dividing her attention between them and a compact device she held in her hand that she was rapidly pushing buttons on.

"Be careful everyone. I can't get a reading on their energy types. Its unfamiliar to the computer." She said after a moment.

Bear looked beyond the seven women to Tiger. Their leader was still involved in the battle with the one they had been sent to transform. A man wearing a cape was drawing nearer to the two who were unaware of his approach. He knew it was not the best time for such interference.

"Owl if you will" Bear asked of his teammate.

The woman nodded with a smile, "Enough...time to begin".

A wind grew around the tall woman, tousling her short hair as she raised her arms above her head. The seven women tensed automatically, which satisfied Bear that their attention was fixed on Owl.

"FOG OF NIGHT" cried Owl as her energies reached their zenith and exploded from her.

The seven warriors scattered in reaction as a thick cloud of pulsating dark fog surrounded the park in an instant. Thought the cloud hindered all of them Bear approved of Owl's choice. It would have the intended affect. He remained where he was, moving only to put his arms down at his sides. Who ever came through the fog would not find him unprepared.
