The Darkness Inside of Her

Raye had jumped backwards in reaction to the fog and stumbled right into Trista causing both of them to roll across the ground in a heap of arms and legs. Feeling stupid and clumsy Raye apologized over and over again to the older Senshi as she helped her up. Trista only laughed quietly and shrugged off Raye's apologies.

"No one can be graceful all the time Raye" Trista remarked jokingly.

Raye dipped her head still attempting to recover from the blush that had risen to her cheeks. She had always held Trista in high regard and hated to seem stupid in front of her. Raye scanned their area looking for the others, confused that she couldn't find any of them. They couldn't have rolled that far away and even in the fog it should have been an easy thing to locate the other Senshi.

"Its an illusion" Trista supplied as if she could read her mind.

Raye nodded accepting it as the truth, she could feel the magics that created the illusion once Trista pointed it out. It had an oily feel that she had never encountered before that made her nervous. How could she fight something she couldn't identify?

"What exactly happened at the Time Gates Trista?" She asked to distract herself from how uncomfortable the magics made her feel.

Trista's brow furrowed, "It was a strange happenstance. All of a sudden timelines just disappeared completely. That doesn't happen. There are always many distinct possibilities for any one future but they just vanished as if no one had been born or as if no one could be reborn from death. That is impossible and when I tried to access Crystal Tokyo the gate simply refused to find it. It was there and yet something had blocked the gate, ordered it to not allow me access. Then she came."

"Serena?" Raye prompted.

Trista nodded her head slowly, "She told me my services were no longer required. I just didn't recognize her. Her hairstyle was different but I remember that silver in her hair, that Senshi outfit. When I resisted she attacked me with so many different energy attacks that I had no hope of winning. I escaped barely by using my staff, I had no idea where the time portal would take me, but I had to risk it or face death at her hands. I ended up outside of Amara and Michele's apartment before I collapsed."

"I just can't believe it." Raye whispered in her own personal guilt "I can't believe Serena would do that to you".

"I don't want to believe it either." Trista stated sadly.

Raye understood Trista's want to deny it. She couldn't even conceive of Serena going after any of the Senshi with intentions of killing them.

~ She used that new attack on me without even thinking about it ~ She thought to herself instantly ashamed of how awful that thought was.

She hated thinking anything horrible of Serena. It made her feel traitorous to even imagine her friend doing something like that.

"What are we going to do Trista?" She asked, praying the woman had some idea.

"I don't know Raye." Trista admitted.

"Dieing would be nice." Chuckled Coyote from behind them.

They spun just as he jumped at them. Trista brought her staff up to defend herself. Raye tensed unable to call up her energy so quickly. Just as the man was about to crash down on them the image dispersed leaving both women confused.

"Are you really that easy to fool?" asked Coyote from the left of them

"Why don't you come out and fight instead of using tricks?" Raye fired back, annoyed that she had fallen for the illusion.

"What fun would that be?" commented another Coyote that materialized from the fog to their right.

"I mean really...don't you people have any sense of competitiveness?" questioned a third from behind.

Trista and Raye settled back to back so that they could keep an eye on all of the men or illusions around them. Raye could not sense if any of them were real or not.

"This is bad" Raye whispered to Trista.

"Not all of them can be real." Trista commented.

"Let's even the odds then..." Raye said "MARS FIREBIRD STRIKE!"

The flame bird slammed into the Coyote on the right who disappeared in a fizzle of blue smoke that blended instantly with the fog. The other three Coyote's began to applaud. Annoyed Raye frowned.

"Bravo little fire soul nicely done." Said the three in unison mockingly.

"PLUTO DEADLY SCREAM!"

Another Coyote disappeared leaving two still clapping. Raye rolled her eyes. The man was the most obnoxious person she had ever been around. Raye centered on the remaining two and settled for the one to her right.

"MARS CELESTIAL FIRE SURROUND!"

The third disappeared as the first two had with little to no resistance. Smiling Raye turned to the last remaining man.

"Guess that leaves just you." She smirked.

"And him" said the remaining man pointing behind them.

Raye gasped and began to turn. A hand reached out, grabbed the side of her head and slammed it painfully against what she could only assume was Trista's head. Instantly she slipped into unconsciousness livid with herself for being fooled.
