Everything changes Chapter 4
Elizabeth had just put the evergreen and holly on the mantel in her new livingroom. She was decorating for Christmas which as only a week away. Emily and Maxie were coming over later and they would be going out Christmas shopping then they would met the guys for coca and cookies at Kelly's before they went out to get a Christmas tree.
The Lansing house had become hangout central for their friends but at least twice a week Ric and Elizabeth had the whole place to them selves.
Elizabeth looked around and could see all of the changes that Ric had put into the cottage so that it would be a perfect home. From the front the cottage had not changed but off the back right outside the kitchen they had put in a sunroom. It had large sliding glass doors and windows that could be opened to allow the breeze on warmer days but with triple insulated glass it was always warm and with Built in UV protect they didn't have to worry about sun damage. It was always warm because Ric had installed a gas fireplace in the far corner. That space was now Elizabeth new Studio and it was set up exactly how she wanted. It had the perfect light.
They had brought the sofa and afghan from the old studio and Elizabeth had set it up by the fireplace. It was covered with the old afghan. The couch was covered with lots of pillows in different sizes and there were also large pillows for people to sit on. The pillows were all coustom made by Maxie with a little help from Elizabeth although she did learn quickly she didn't sew any better than she cooked. Thank goodness Maxie was in design school and understood how to use the sewing machine.
Down stairs the larger bedroom was set up to be a guestroom decorated with shades of blue and white and yellow for accent. The smaller bedroom was Ric's office. Upstairs was the master bedroom that they had done in muted. It was peaceful and conformable with lots of Light. There was a smaller room that they used for storage that someday Elizabeth hoped would hold a nursery.
There was a tap at the door and Elizabeth let Emily in. they had sat down for coffee when all of a sudden Elizabeth had to run to the bathroom to be sick. A few minutes later she came back into the kitchen very pale.
"Are you alright!" Emily asked Elizabeth concerned.
"Yes Em, I am fine! I think I have a touch of the stomach flu I have been just a little queasy in the stomach." Elizabeth said trying to laugh it off.
"Are you sure you want to go shopping still." Asked Emily as she picked up the coffee cups and loaded them into the dishwasher and turned off the pot.
"Yes Emily I am sure we are supposed to have a party tonight to trim the tree and Ric and I have no tree or trimmings LOL so we need to go." She said as she picked up her purse and put on her coat.
"Ok, Ok shopping here we come." Emily said on the way out the front door.
Later that day.
Elizabeth and Emily were sitting at Kelly's drinking hot coca while waiting for the guys to show up.
They were also waiting for Maxie to finish waiting on Courtney who was at the table next to them. After she got off work so she would join the fun tonight. Elizabeth and Emily had become close with Maxi since she started dating Lucky.
"I'll be right back Em, I need to check the schedule and see what time I work tomorrow." Elizabeth said as she got up. She took a few steps but the had to grab the chair beside her as the room spun around.
"Are you Ok?" Maxie asked as she quickly got Elizabeth's arm and helped her back into her seat before she fell down.
"What happened?" Emily asked very concerned.
"I got dizzy that's all!" Elizabeth said trying to laugh it off.
"Maybe your pregnant!" Maxie said joking as she went to finish her shift.
Elizabeth noticed Emily looking at her strangely and said "What? What are you thinking?"
"I was thinking maybe Maxie is right maybe your pregnant. Before you start arguing with me lets look at the facts. You have had a sick stomach in the morning. Plus you are married so you do have sex. All of that could lead up to being pregnant. "Emily said. Then she looked over at Elizabeth and waited for her to argue. What she didn't realize is Courtney had heard the whole list and was waiting to hear the answer.
Elizabeth opened her mouth to say argue but then closed it. She looked over at Emily and said, "oh my god I can't be pregnant Em. I mean I haven't been regular since I lost the first baby and have gone a couple of months with out a period before now."
They didn't even notice didn't even notice that Courtney had left Kelly's leaving her food untouched
"Well Emily said while we are waiting for our lunches we can walk down to the drug store and pick up a test, then come back here to eat our lunches and wait for the guys.
"That sounds like a good idea to me." Elizabeth said. "Maxie we are gonna walk over to the drug store real quick, Will you hold our lunches until we come back?"
"Sure Elizabeth it will be waiting!" Maxie said as she started making a new pot of coffee.

Maxie called out, "See you two in a few," as Emily and Elizabeth walked out.
She had just started to clear the empty tables when she heard the bell over the door jingle. She watched as a Blond man walked in. He was older, around Ric's age and neatly dressed in black jeans and a Golf shirt, but not stuff looking. He also has blue green eyes. "Hello," she said with a bright smile. " I will be with you in just a second have a seat anywhere you like."
"I'm sorry, I was actually looking for someone who works here?" The man said.
"Oh, Ok! "said Maxie with a smile," who are you looking for? "
"Lizzie Webber?" the blond man said. Smiling.
"Lizzie Webber?" Maxie asked looking a little confused. "Oh, you mean Elizabeth and its Lansing. She just left a before you came in. She will be back in a few minutes if you'd like to wait.
"Actually," the man said. "No thank you. It's a beautiful day I think I will go for a walk and come back. In a short while." Then he turned and started back out the door.
"Ok, have a nice walk." Maxie said as she started cleaning off the counter.
Courtney was sitting behind the wheel of her Monte Carlo. She was busy drinking Vodka out of an oversized coffee travel mug that she had filled when she got in her car. It was almost empty already.
"Elizabeth Might be pregnant...Elizabeth might be pregnant... Elizabeth might be pregnant." That phrases just kept playing over and over in her head. She had lost her baby and would never ever have another one. She lost it to save her brothers' wife. But no one cared. Now her Jason had slept with that BITCH and she was properly pregnant. There was no way Elizabeth was gonna steal Jason. No way that this baby was gonna be born. She had to stop her somehow.
Courtney looked up and saw the perfect chance. Putting her car in gear she gunned the engine she sped off smiling and laughing.
It was a beautiful day and since their wives had the cars Ric and Zander we walking from the courthouse down the cobblestone walk way. Zander had been at the courthouse on ELQ business and ran into Ric.
Nik and Lucky were coming from the opposite direction, from the docks. Lucky had just gotten off work on his last day as a fork lift operator, tomorrow he began work at General Hospital as a security Guard. Nik had come over on the launch from Wyndermere. They were enjoying the warm winters day and talking about Lucky and Maxie's relationship.
Elizabeth Saw Ric and Zander on the other side of the road and down the side walk. She called out to him , "Ric wait for us ."
At the sound of her voice Ric turned and smiled . He and Zander started walking towards the girls to meet them.
The crossing Signal read WALK, so Elizabeth looked both ways and then stepped down on to the road and towards Ric. Suddenly a car came out of no where and hit her sending her flying back into the curb and onto the sidewalk before barreling through and hitting a tree a few yards past the intersection.
Ric watched in horror as the cream colored Monte Carlo swung out of its parking place and ran into Elizabeth . He screamed out her name and ran as fast as possible to her followed by Zander. He got to her and kneeled down close checking to see if she still had a pulse and was breathing . Afraid to touch her and knowing he should not move her, he brushed the hair out of her face and got blood on his hands from where her head was bleeding from hitting the sidewalk. He started talking to her "baby it's gonna be Ok... Please Elizabeth hold on ... I just got you back , I can't loose you again ... Please baby be ok..."
Emily saw the whole thing and was simply frozen. When Zander got to her she simply crumpled into a mess of tears.
Zander already had his cell phone out as he reached Emily. He was speaking into it, "Yes! it's an emergency... a woman has been hit by a car crossing waters street... yes we are down by the water front where the Ryce plaza cobblestones cross over waters street... she is unconscious but she is breathing ...yes please hurry its DA Lansing's wife."
Lucky and Nik had also seen the Accident and came running up the sidewalk.
Nik looked past Elizabeth to the car that hit her and saw the drive struggling out . He became in raged and said "No way not again I just lost Gia to a damn car. This isn't gonna happen again." He ran over to the car to stop the driver from leaving. He opened the door shocked to see who was behind the wheel.
Lucky bent down beside Elizabeth . He had no idea what to do Ric was begging and crying trying to get Elizabeth to wake up . He was very relived to see Elizabeth was still breathing . He reached out to touch Elizabeth hand and was stopped By Ric Yelling, "Don't touch her."
Lucky looked up and saw Ric's tears and the frantic look in his eyes and he could remember the last time he had seen Ric look like that. It was the night in front of Kelly's when Elizabeth had lost the baby. Wanting to know she was ok but also worried about how Ric would handle everything he backed off.
The blonde haired man was enjoying his walk around Ryce plaza . He could remember Kelly's and some of the little shops from when he was very small. He looked at his watch and decided to head back to Kelly's when he heard the screech of tires and a loud bang of a car hitting something. As he ran up the sidewalk he saw a small dark haired woman lying at an odd angle and a dark haired man crying holding her hand while some others were standing around . As he got closer he heard the man say" Please Elizabeth hold on", and he got a sinking feeling.
He pushed his way though the crowd and looked down to see Elizabeth lying half in the road . He reached down to touch her to check her pulse when the man holding her hand screamed, "Don't touch her!" and he felt himself being dragged back wards by two younger dark haired men.
He started fighting to get away from them and get back to Elizabeth. "Let me go he yelled I need to check on Lizzie."
The bigger of the two men said, "No Way! You are not getting anywhere near Elizabeth . We're not letting anyone else hurt her."
The blond man kept fighting and it was taking both Lucky and Zander to hold him back. They could just barely hear the sirens in the distance . Still struggling the blond man finally said "Please, I don't know who the hell you people are but I need to check on Lizzie... Please she's my sister ... I 'm Steven Webber!"
Everything Changes Part 14
"I'm Steven Webber," he yelled trying to pull away from Lucky. "I'm Lizzie's brother...I'm a doctor...Please...Please Let me see what I can do."
"Lucky, let Him go," Emily said as she was pulling on Lucky sleeve trying to get him to turn Steven Loose.
Finally Zander stepped Forward and said, "If your Elizabeth's brother prove it!"
Steven glared as he reached into his shirt and pulled out an ID card. He pulled the chain over his head and handed it to Zander.
Zander Read out loud, "Steven L. Webber MD. Ph.D. General Hospital. Its legit Lucky let him go."
Steven stepped forward and got on one knee and he reached down to Elizabeth's Neck to take her pulse.
"No!" , Ric screamed. "Leave her alone," as he slugged Steven in the jaw knocking him on his ass. He leaned over to try to shield Elizabeth so that Steven couldn't touch her.
Steven started Rubbing his jaw and then Yelled, "Can somebody grab this Son of a bitch so I can check his vitals."
Lucky came up behind Ric and pulled him back so Steven could get in the check his sister. Ric was pulling and fighting, His eyes wild as he screamed, "Don't touch her she's hurt enough."
Emily walked between Ric and Elizabeth. She reached out and Put her hand on his chest trying to get his attention. " Ric He's a doctor and He's Elizabeth's brother. Please let him help. I promise We won't let him hurt her."
Nik walked up to the car that had hit Elizabeth and looked in the window. He was shocked when he saw it was Courtney and pulled the door open to try to help her. "Courtney are you all Right?" he asked concerned.
Courtney Turned to look over at Nik and then Grinned Then she started laughing. "Oppp's I hit Little Miss muffin face ...I hit her... cool is The Bitch dead?" she said then she started to laugh even harder. "Please Nik make my day, tell me she's dead.
Nik realized when she started laughing something was seriously the matter but when she was so happy that Elizabeth Might be dead he Knew she had done it on purpose. That made his blood run cold. He remembered last July when he got the call from Taggert telling him that Gia had been Killed by a hit and run driver while jogging. Something in him snapped. He reached into the car and started pulling Courtney out.
Courtney decided that Nik was funny and started giggling and trying to get out the passenger window.
Finally Nik had had enough he grabbed Courtney by her long hair and started dragging her out of her car by it.
The ambulance had finally came and the EMT's had loaded Elizabeth into the back for transport to the hospital. Steven tried to go with her but was again stopped by the bigger dark hair man. The man who hit him in the jaw got in and left with her.
Turning around to face Emily, Lucky, and Zander. Steven started yelling at them. "Are You all Nuts?" He asked. " You almost Kept me from Helping Lizzie. I got a fist in the face when I went to check her Vital signs. But you let that crazy Son of a Bitch go with her. I don't believe you all. " He turned to start walking back to the hospital, but he was stopped by the little dark haired woman.
Emily grabbed Steven by his arm making him turn around. "Excuse me," she said as he turned around to look at her. "that son of a bitch as you call him is Ric Lansing. He is ELIZABETH's husband. He loves her more than his own life and almost lost her last spring when he found her hurt right her at Ryce Plaza." She finally just started crying.
Zander stepped forward to pull Emily to his chest. 'Oh and that crazy Son of a bitch is the DA and his biggest fear is something would happen to Elizabeth." Zander added.
Steven looked at the three people in front of him and finally threw his hands up in the air asking, "Who in the Hell are you people?"
Just as Steven asked his question Nik walked up to rejoin everyone else. He Looked the blond man up and down . In his most princely fashion Nik answered," We are her family. Who in the hell are YOU?"
Steven looked the man in the eyes and answered, "I'm Lizzie's brother !"
Nik stared at the man coldly and then simply said , " That's supposed to matter to us." He turned to look at Lucky ignoring the annoying older man and asked ,"How is Elizabeth?"
Emily answered, " Well she never woke up. The EMT's took her to GH. Ric road along." She then smiled at Steven and said Elizabeth's brother Steven is a doctor and he checked her out and helped until the EMTs got here. After we could get Ric calmed down . The last Line made everyone laugh except Steven.
"Taggert came and took the Driver to The PCPD. Nik said , "It was Courtney Morgan and I think she hit Elizabeth on purpose."
Everything Changes Part 15
The double doors of the general Hospital Emergency room opened and the EMT's wheeled in a stretcher carrying Elizabeth. Ric who walked up to take hold of Elizabeth hand followed them when they had stopped. He was calmer now than he had been at the accident site. The EMT's had said she was stable and they had reached the hospital quickly.
Dr. Jones was talking with the EMT's . "Ok! Take her to trauma one," he said and then he followed the EMT's down the hall.
Ric tried to follow but was stopped by Bobbie Spencer. "Ric you need to stay out here and let the doctors do there work." She said as she reached out and touched his arm. "I will let you know how she is as soon as possible."
Ric had been watching them rolling Liz down the hallway. When he could no longer see her. He turned to Bobbie, "please make sure they take good care of her, and please don't let anyone near her you don't know." Ric asked as his eyes filled with tears. "I can not loose her Bobbie I just got her back."
"I will Ric, I promise!' Bobbie answered. The she walked down the hall to trauma one.
Ric went to the waiting area and tried to sit down to wait. He had too much nervous energy and got up and started walking around it was calming.
A short time later, Nik, Zander and Emily walked into the waiting area. Emily walked straight over to Ric and gave him a big hug.
"How is she?" Zander asked as they moved over to stand in a corner out of the way.
"Bobbie and Dr. Jones have her in trauma One. They haven't told me anything yet. The EMT's said she was stable but she is still unconscious. The way her leg is I think it's broken. "Ric answered you could hear the frustration and fear in hear in his voice. He stopped to take a couple of deep breaths, blinking away the tears before he could continue. "They're doing blood work, x-rays and a CAT scan. Bobbie said she would come get me if there is any change in her condition."
Nik finally spoke," I'm sure Bobbie will come to speak to you as soon as she has some information. Lucky will be here shortly. He had to pick up Maxie."
Ric smiled as very sad smile and said, "Nik that's fine. I understand. Thank you all for coming. We might as well sit down we can't all be pacing or there will be no floor left." He walked over to a grouping of sofas and chairs on the far side of the waiting area and sat down.
The elevator opened and Audrey Hardy stepped Off of it. She started across the waiting area to where Ric was sitting and Ric got up to speak to her. "Ric what happened! I got a call upstairs that Elizabeth has been brought into the Emergency room Again." Audrey said in an angry tone.
"Audrey, Elizabeth was crossing at the crosswalk at Waters Street and was hit by a drunk driver. "Ric answered. "The EMT's got there quickly and we got her here. I am awaiting some news but she was stable when we got here."
"Oh Ric, I am so sorry I sounded like I was accusing you. I didn't mean to. It always seems that if something is gonna happen it happens to Elizabeth. Let me go see what is going on I will be right back." Audrey said. Then she went into the emergency room.
Steven Webber walked into the waiting room at GH. He was very angry. He Had tried to see Lizzie in the emergency room and even with his Hospital Id and proof of who he was he had been blocked from seeing her. He walked straight up to the dark haired man who he was told was Lizzie husband and stood in front of him. "Why have I been blocked from seeing Lizzie or Finding anything out about her condition?" he demanded.
Ric looked up at him. "Why should you be allowed in to See Elizabeth?"
At this point Steven was very angry "I'm her brother he answered. I have a right to see Her. I am her family."
Ric stood up to answer Steven but before he could Audrey Hardy had come back into the waiting room and walked up to stand between Ric and Steven.

Everything Changes Part 16
Audrey had walked into the Emergency room waiting area at just the perfect time. Stepping between and Ric Audrey smiled at Ric and then Turned to Steven. "Hello, Steven I just heard you were in town." Then she hugged him.
"Hello, Grams," Steven said then pointing over at Ric he continued, "this psycho won't let me see Lizzie."
"I know Steven Bobbie told me" Audrey said her tone becoming very stern. "I want you to Leave things alone. Its up to Ric as Elizabeth husband to decide who sees Elizabeth and who doesn't. You will not stand out here and add even more stress by throwing a fit. You have waited at least 10 years to see her you can wait a little longer."
Steven realized that even Grams was on Ric's side and it was a loosing battle but he had to try "But Grams I'm her family. I try to help MY sister and what happens? I get the third degree from a bunch of twenty something's. Then when I finally convince them to let me help her I get a fist in my jaw from some psycho. Then I get informed he's her husband. "I'm her brother for god sakes. I'm her family!"
At this point in the argument Ric had had enough. He stepped around Audrey and calmly but forcefully he spoke up. "Family! How dare you come in here and spout a bunch of bullshit about being Elizabeth's family." He pointed over the where Elizabeth's friends were standing and then continued. "Those people over there are her family not you! I mean give me a break family? Where were you when your family moved away and basically forgot to take Elizabeth with them? Where were you when she was 15 and her life changed forever? Where were you when she thought her Fiancé was dead? When she almost got married? When we did get married? When we lost the baby last spring." Ric had to take a deep breath. He was trying to fight back the tears.
He walked over to where their friends were standing. And pointed everyone out. "This is her family. Her Grandmother who has always been they're for her even when she doesn't agree with Elizabeth choices. "Ric said as he hugged Audrey, Then he moved over to the others. "This is her family Emily, Nik and Zander who have been there forever who and support her along with Lucky. There's also Maxie who has become Elizabeth Little sister. "
The Ric walked back over to Steven and looking up at the taller man Ric finally said," Then there's me. I am her husband. I am here family and she is mine. I love MY WIFE more than life itself. You are a Pompous ass who throw around the Title of Brother Like it gives you some owner ship or special right to my wife. It does not." The beeper on Ric's watch went off and he simply turned and walked over to his jacket taking out a bottle of pills and went to the water fountain to take them.
Steven was amazed at what had just happened. At what he had just been told He realized that all of those events that Ric had just listed he new nothing about and simply stood there amazed.
After taking the medication Ric walked back over calmer and said, "Steven, If you would like to stay and wait to see how she is I won't stop you. But I will not allow you to get anywhere near MY Wife until she is able to decide what She wants."
The argument was ending by the time Maxie and Lucky arrived in the waiting area. Maxie saw Ric and ran directly to him and gave him a hug. "I'm so sorry," she said through her tears," Ric she has to be ok. She has to be."
Steven looked at Maxie whom he remembered as the waitress from Kelly's hugging Ric. "You have a very pretty daughter, He said being a smart ass on purpose."
Other than glaring at him Ric simply ignored the comment. Turning to look at Maixe he smiled a gentle smile and said "she's gonna be Ok Maxie, We just have to wait now." The he took her over to one of the empty chairs so she could sit down.
Before he could upset anyone else Audrey got Steven by the arm and started pulling him towards the chairs on the other side of the waiting area. "Steven I think you and I really need to talk." she said.
About an hour later Bobbie came out into the waiting area. "Ric we need to speak with you." She said.
"How is Elizabeth Aunt Bobbie? Maxie asked.
"She is still stable Maxie. Which is very good news" she said smiling at Maxie, "Why don't we let your uncle Tony fill Ric in on everything that is going on and the he will be able to tell you."
Ric followed Bobbie back to Elizabeth's room. He walked in and had to take a deep breath. She looked so small and young in the hospital bed. She was hooked to several monitors and IVs. The bruises were starting to show up so her jaw was purple and swollen and her right eye looked like it was going to be blackened. He reached down and took her left hand bending over to kiss it. He leaned down and whispered, "I love you sweetheart."
Dr. Jones walked in. He shook Ric's hand and said, "Hello, Ric."
"How's my Wife Dr, Jones?" Ric asked very concerned.
"Right now Elizabeth is stable. She has a very bad concussion and is still not awake although she has been stirring. She is not in a coma that is the best news. She has a lot of cuts and scrapes especially to her right side and hip. Her right wrist is badly sprained. Her left Knee is dislocated and will need surgery. But that will have to wait. We found something in her Blood work that is our greatest concerned."
"What did you find out? What's the matter with my wife?" Ric asked trying to stay calm but starting to fail.
"Elizabeth's blood work came back with a positive pregnancy test. Did you know she was Pregnant?" Asked Dr. Jones.

"I was thinking maybe Maxie is right maybe your pregnant. Before you start arguing with me lets look at the facts. You have had a sick stomach in the morning. Plus you are married so you do have sex. All of that could lead up to being pregnant. "Emily said. Then she looked over at Elizabeth and waited for her to argue. What she didn't realize is Courtney had heard the whole list and was waiting to hear the answer.
Elizabeth opened her mouth to say argue but then closed it. She looked over at Emily and said, "oh my god I can't be pregnant Em. I mean I haven't been regular since I lost the first baby and have gone a couple of months with out a period before now."
They didn't even notice didn't even notice that Courtney had left Kelly's leaving her food untouched
"Well Emily said while we are waiting for our lunches we can walk down to the drug store and pick up a test, then come back here to eat our lunches and wait for the guys.
"That sounds like a good idea to me." Elizabeth said. "Maxie we are gonna walk over to the drug store real quick, Will you hold our lunches until we come back?"
"Sure Elizabeth it will be waiting!" Maxie said as she started making a new pot of coffee.

Maxie called out, "See you two in a few," as Emily and Elizabeth walked out.
She had just started to clear the empty tables when she heard the bell over the door jingle. She watched as a Blond man walked in. He was older, around Ric's age and neatly dressed in black jeans and a Golf shirt, but not stuff looking. He also has blue green eyes. "Hello," she said with a bright smile. " I will be with you in just a second have a seat anywhere you like."
"I'm sorry, I was actually looking for someone who works here?" The man said.
"Oh, Ok! "said Maxie with a smile," who are you looking for? "
"Lizzie Webber?" the blond man said. Smiling.
"Lizzie Webber?" Maxie asked looking a little confused. "Oh, you mean Elizabeth and its Lansing. She just left a before you came in. She will be back in a few minutes if you'd like to wait.
"Actually," the man said. "No thank you. It's a beautiful day I think I will go for a walk and come back. In a short while." Then he turned and started back out the door.
"Ok, have a nice walk." Maxie said as she started cleaning off the counter.
Courtney was sitting behind the wheel of her Monte Carlo. She was busy drinking Vodka out of an oversized coffee travel mug that she had filled when she got in her car. It was almost empty already.
"Elizabeth Might be pregnant...Elizabeth might be pregnant... Elizabeth might be pregnant." That phrases just kept playing over and over in her head. She had lost her baby and would never ever have another one. She lost it to save her brothers' wife. But no one cared. Now her Jason had slept with that BITCH and she was properly pregnant. There was no way Elizabeth was gonna steal Jason. No way that this baby was gonna be born. She had to stop her somehow.
Courtney looked up and saw the perfect chance. Putting her car in gear she gunned the engine she sped off smiling and laughing.
It was a beautiful day and since their wives had the cars Ric and Zander we walking from the courthouse down the cobblestone walk way. Zander had been at the courthouse on ELQ business and ran into Ric.
Nik and Lucky were coming from the opposite direction, from the docks. Lucky had just gotten off work on his last day as a fork lift operator, tomorrow he began work at General Hospital as a security Guard. Nik had come over on the launch from Wyndermere. They were enjoying the warm winters day and talking about Lucky and Maxie's relationship.
Elizabeth Saw Ric and Zander on the other side of the road and down the side walk. She called out to him , "Ric wait for us ."
At the sound of her voice Ric turned and smiled . He and Zander started walking towards the girls to meet them.
The crossing Signal read WALK, so Elizabeth looked both ways and then stepped down on to the road and towards Ric. Suddenly a car came out of no where and hit her sending her flying back into the curb and onto the sidewalk before barreling through and hitting a tree a few yards past the intersection.
Ric watched in horror as the cream colored Monte Carlo swung out of its parking place and ran into Elizabeth . He screamed out her name and ran as fast as possible to her followed by Zander. He got to her and kneeled down close checking to see if she still had a pulse and was breathing . Afraid to touch her and knowing he should not move her, he brushed the hair out of her face and got blood on his hands from where her head was bleeding from hitting the sidewalk. He started talking to her "baby it's gonna be Ok... Please Elizabeth hold on ... I just got you back , I can't loose you again ... Please baby be ok..."
Emily saw the whole thing and was simply frozen. When Zander got to her she simply crumpled into a mess of tears.
Zander already had his cell phone out as he reached Emily. He was speaking into it, "Yes! it's an emergency... a woman has been hit by a car crossing waters street... yes we are down by the water front where the Ryce plaza cobblestones cross over waters street... she is unconscious but she is breathing ...yes please hurry its DA Lansing's wife."
Lucky and Nik had also seen the Accident and came running up the sidewalk.
Nik looked past Elizabeth to the car that hit her and saw the drive struggling out . He became in raged and said "No way not again I just lost Gia to a damn car. This isn't gonna happen again." He ran over to the car to stop the driver from leaving. He opened the door shocked to see who was behind the wheel.
Lucky bent down beside Elizabeth . He had no idea what to do Ric was begging and crying trying to get Elizabeth to wake up . He was very relived to see Elizabeth was still breathing . He reached out to touch Elizabeth hand and was stopped By Ric Yelling, "Don't touch her."
Lucky looked up and saw Ric's tears and the frantic look in his eyes and he could remember the last time he had seen Ric look like that. It was the night in front of Kelly's when Elizabeth had lost the baby. Wanting to know she was ok but also worried about how Ric would handle everything he backed off.
The blonde haired man was enjoying his walk around Ryce plaza . He could remember Kelly's and some of the little shops from when he was very small. He looked at his watch and decided to head back to Kelly's when he heard the screech of tires and a loud bang of a car hitting something. As he ran up the sidewalk he saw a small dark haired woman lying at an odd angle and a dark haired man crying holding her hand while some others were standing around . As he got closer he heard the man say" Please Elizabeth hold on", and he got a sinking feeling.
He pushed his way though the crowd and looked down to see Elizabeth lying half in the road . He reached down to touch her to check her pulse when the man holding her hand screamed, "Don't touch her!" and he felt himself being dragged back wards by two younger dark haired men.
He started fighting to get away from them and get back to Elizabeth. "Let me go he yelled I need to check on Lizzie."
The bigger of the two men said, "No Way! You are not getting anywhere near Elizabeth . We're not letting anyone else hurt her."
The blond man kept fighting and it was taking both Lucky and Zander to hold him back. They could just barely hear the sirens in the distance . Still struggling the blond man finally said "Please, I don't know who the hell you people are but I need to check on Lizzie... Please she's my sister ... I 'm Steven Webber!"
Everything Changes Part 14
"I'm Steven Webber," he yelled trying to pull away from Lucky. "I'm Lizzie's brother...I'm a doctor...Please...Please Let me see what I can do."
"Lucky, let Him go," Emily said as she was pulling on Lucky sleeve trying to get him to turn Steven Loose.
Finally Zander stepped Forward and said, "If your Elizabeth's brother prove it!"
Steven glared as he reached into his shirt and pulled out an ID card. He pulled the chain over his head and handed it to Zander.
Zander Read out loud, "Steven L. Webber MD. Ph.D. General Hospital. Its legit Lucky let him go."
Steven stepped forward and got on one knee and he reached down to Elizabeth's Neck to take her pulse.
"No!" , Ric screamed. "Leave her alone," as he slugged Steven in the jaw knocking him on his ass. He leaned over to try to shield Elizabeth so that Steven couldn't touch her.
Steven started Rubbing his jaw and then Yelled, "Can somebody grab this Son of a bitch so I can check his vitals."
Lucky came up behind Ric and pulled him back so Steven could get in the check his sister. Ric was pulling and fighting, His eyes wild as he screamed, "Don't touch her she's hurt enough."
Emily walked between Ric and Elizabeth. She reached out and Put her hand on his chest trying to get his attention. " Ric He's a doctor and He's Elizabeth's brother. Please let him help. I promise We won't let him hurt her."
Nik walked up to the car that had hit Elizabeth and looked in the window. He was shocked when he saw it was Courtney and pulled the door open to try to help her. "Courtney are you all Right?" he asked concerned.
Courtney Turned to look over at Nik and then Grinned Then she started laughing. "Oppp's I hit Little Miss muffin face ...I hit her... cool is The Bitch dead?" she said then she started to laugh even harder. "Please Nik make my day, tell me she's dead.
Nik realized when she started laughing something was seriously the matter but when she was so happy that Elizabeth Might be dead he Knew she had done it on purpose. That made his blood run cold. He remembered last July when he got the call from Taggert telling him that Gia had been Killed by a hit and run driver while jogging. Something in him snapped. He reached into the car and started pulling Courtney out.
Courtney decided that Nik was funny and started giggling and trying to get out the passenger window.
Finally Nik had had enough he grabbed Courtney by her long hair and started dragging her out of her car by it.
The ambulance had finally came and the EMT's had loaded Elizabeth into the back for transport to the hospital. Steven tried to go with her but was again stopped by the bigger dark hair man. The man who hit him in the jaw got in and left with her.
Turning around to face Emily, Lucky, and Zander. Steven started yelling at them. "Are You all Nuts?" He asked. " You almost Kept me from Helping Lizzie. I got a fist in the face when I went to check her Vital signs. But you let that crazy Son of a Bitch go with her. I don't believe you all. " He turned to start walking back to the hospital, but he was stopped by the little dark haired woman.
Emily grabbed Steven by his arm making him turn around. "Excuse me," she said as he turned around to look at her. "that son of a bitch as you call him is Ric Lansing. He is ELIZABETH's husband. He loves her more than his own life and almost lost her last spring when he found her hurt right her at Ryce Plaza." She finally just started crying.
Zander stepped forward to pull Emily to his chest. 'Oh and that crazy Son of a bitch is the DA and his biggest fear is something would happen to Elizabeth." Zander added.
Steven looked at the three people in front of him and finally threw his hands up in the air asking, "Who in the Hell are you people?"
Just as Steven asked his question Nik walked up to rejoin everyone else. He Looked the blond man up and down . In his most princely fashion Nik answered," We are her family. Who in the hell are YOU?"
Steven looked the man in the eyes and answered, "I'm Lizzie's brother !"
Nik stared at the man coldly and then simply said , " That's supposed to matter to us." He turned to look at Lucky ignoring the annoying older man and asked ,"How is Elizabeth?"
Emily answered, " Well she never woke up. The EMT's took her to GH. Ric road along." She then smiled at Steven and said Elizabeth's brother Steven is a doctor and he checked her out and helped until the EMTs got here. After we could get Ric calmed down . The last Line made everyone laugh except Steven.
"Taggert came and took the Driver to The PCPD. Nik said , "It was Courtney Morgan and I think she hit Elizabeth on purpose."
Everything Changes Part 15
The double doors of the general Hospital Emergency room opened and the EMT's wheeled in a stretcher carrying Elizabeth. Ric who walked up to take hold of Elizabeth hand followed them when they had stopped. He was calmer now than he had been at the accident site. The EMT's had said she was stable and they had reached the hospital quickly.
Dr. Jones was talking with the EMT's . "Ok! Take her to trauma one," he said and then he followed the EMT's down the hall.
Ric tried to follow but was stopped by Bobbie Spencer. "Ric you need to stay out here and let the doctors do there work." She said as she reached out and touched his arm. "I will let you know how she is as soon as possible."
Ric had been watching them rolling Liz down the hallway. When he could no longer see her. He turned to Bobbie, "please make sure they take good care of her, and please don't let anyone near her you don't know." Ric asked as his eyes filled with tears. "I can not loose her Bobbie I just got her back."
"I will Ric, I promise!' Bobbie answered. The she walked down the hall to trauma one.
Ric went to the waiting area and tried to sit down to wait. He had too much nervous energy and got up and started walking around it was calming.
A short time later, Nik, Zander and Emily walked into the waiting area. Emily walked straight over to Ric and gave him a big hug.
"How is she?" Zander asked as they moved over to stand in a corner out of the way.
"Bobbie and Dr. Jones have her in trauma One. They haven't told me anything yet. The EMT's said she was stable but she is still unconscious. The way her leg is I think it's broken. "Ric answered you could hear the frustration and fear in hear in his voice. He stopped to take a couple of deep breaths, blinking away the tears before he could continue. "They're doing blood work, x-rays and a CAT scan. Bobbie said she would come get me if there is any change in her condition."
Nik finally spoke," I'm sure Bobbie will come to speak to you as soon as she has some information. Lucky will be here shortly. He had to pick up Maxie."
Ric smiled as very sad smile and said, "Nik that's fine. I understand. Thank you all for coming. We might as well sit down we can't all be pacing or there will be no floor left." He walked over to a grouping of sofas and chairs on the far side of the waiting area and sat down.
The elevator opened and Audrey Hardy stepped Off of it. She started across the waiting area to where Ric was sitting and Ric got up to speak to her. "Ric what happened! I got a call upstairs that Elizabeth has been brought into the Emergency room Again." Audrey said in an angry tone.
"Audrey, Elizabeth was crossing at the crosswalk at Waters Street and was hit by a drunk driver. "Ric answered. "The EMT's got there quickly and we got her here. I am awaiting some news but she was stable when we got here."
"Oh Ric, I am so sorry I sounded like I was accusing you. I didn't mean to. It always seems that if something is gonna happen it happens to Elizabeth. Let me go see what is going on I will be right back." Audrey said. Then she went into the emergency room.
Steven Webber walked into the waiting room at GH. He was very angry. He Had tried to see Lizzie in the emergency room and even with his Hospital Id and proof of who he was he had been blocked from seeing her. He walked straight up to the dark haired man who he was told was Lizzie husband and stood in front of him. "Why have I been blocked from seeing Lizzie or Finding anything out about her condition?" he demanded.
Ric looked up at him. "Why should you be allowed in to See Elizabeth?"
At this point Steven was very angry "I'm her brother he answered. I have a right to see Her. I am her family."
Ric stood up to answer Steven but before he could Audrey Hardy had come back into the waiting room and walked up to stand between Ric and Steven.

Everything Changes Part 16
Audrey had walked into the Emergency room waiting area at just the perfect time. Stepping between and Ric Audrey smiled at Ric and then Turned to Steven. "Hello, Steven I just heard you were in town." Then she hugged him.
"Hello, Grams," Steven said then pointing over at Ric he continued, "this psycho won't let me see Lizzie."
"I know Steven Bobbie told me" Audrey said her tone becoming very stern. "I want you to Leave things alone. Its up to Ric as Elizabeth husband to decide who sees Elizabeth and who doesn't. You will not stand out here and add even more stress by throwing a fit. You have waited at least 10 years to see her you can wait a little longer."
Steven realized that even Grams was on Ric's side and it was a loosing battle but he had to try "But Grams I'm her family. I try to help MY sister and what happens? I get the third degree from a bunch of twenty something's. Then when I finally convince them to let me help her I get a fist in my jaw from some psycho. Then I get informed he's her husband. "I'm her brother for god sakes. I'm her family!"
At this point in the argument Ric had had enough. He stepped around Audrey and calmly but forcefully he spoke up. "Family! How dare you come in here and spout a bunch of bullshit about being Elizabeth's family." He pointed over the where Elizabeth's friends were standing and then continued. "Those people over there are her family not you! I mean give me a break family? Where were you when your family moved away and basically forgot to take Elizabeth with them? Where were you when she was 15 and her life changed forever? Where were you when she thought her Fiancé was dead? When she almost got married? When we did get married? When we lost the baby last spring." Ric had to take a deep breath. He was trying to fight back the tears.
He walked over to where their friends were standing. And pointed everyone out. "This is her family. Her Grandmother who has always been they're for her even when she doesn't agree with Elizabeth choices. "Ric said as he hugged Audrey, Then he moved over to the others. "This is her family Emily, Nik and Zander who have been there forever who and support her along with Lucky. There's also Maxie who has become Elizabeth Little sister. "
The Ric walked back over to Steven and looking up at the taller man Ric finally said," Then there's me. I am her husband. I am here family and she is mine. I love MY WIFE more than life itself. You are a Pompous ass who throw around the Title of Brother Like it gives you some owner ship or special right to my wife. It does not." The beeper on Ric's watch went off and he simply turned and walked over to his jacket taking out a bottle of pills and went to the water fountain to take them.
Steven was amazed at what had just happened. At what he had just been told He realized that all of those events that Ric had just listed he new nothing about and simply stood there amazed.
After taking the medication Ric walked back over calmer and said, "Steven, If you would like to stay and wait to see how she is I won't stop you. But I will not allow you to get anywhere near MY Wife until she is able to decide what She wants."
The argument was ending by the time Maxie and Lucky arrived in the waiting area. Maxie saw Ric and ran directly to him and gave him a hug. "I'm so sorry," she said through her tears," Ric she has to be ok. She has to be."
Steven looked at Maxie whom he remembered as the waitress from Kelly's hugging Ric. "You have a very pretty daughter, He said being a smart ass on purpose."
Other than glaring at him Ric simply ignored the comment. Turning to look at Maixe he smiled a gentle smile and said "she's gonna be Ok Maxie, We just have to wait now." The he took her over to one of the empty chairs so she could sit down.
Before he could upset anyone else Audrey got Steven by the arm and started pulling him towards the chairs on the other side of the waiting area. "Steven I think you and I really need to talk." she said.
About an hour later Bobbie came out into the waiting area. "Ric we need to speak with you." She said.
"How is Elizabeth Aunt Bobbie? Maxie asked.
"She is still stable Maxie. Which is very good news" she said smiling at Maxie, "Why don't we let your uncle Tony fill Ric in on everything that is going on and the he will be able to tell you."
Ric followed Bobbie back to Elizabeth's room. He walked in and had to take a deep breath. She looked so small and young in the hospital bed. She was hooked to several monitors and IVs. The bruises were starting to show up so her jaw was purple and swollen and her right eye looked like it was going to be blackened. He reached down and took her left hand bending over to kiss it. He leaned down and whispered, "I love you sweetheart."
Dr. Jones walked in. He shook Ric's hand and said, "Hello, Ric."
"How's my Wife Dr, Jones?" Ric asked very concerned.
"Right now Elizabeth is stable. She has a very bad concussion and is still not awake although she has been stirring. She is not in a coma that is the best news. She has a lot of cuts and scrapes especially to her right side and hip. Her right wrist is badly sprained. Her left Knee is dislocated and will need surgery. But that will have to wait. We found something in her Blood work that is our greatest concerned."
"What did you find out? What's the matter with my wife?" Ric asked trying to stay calm but starting to fail.
"Elizabeth's blood work came back with a positive pregnancy test. Did you know she was Pregnant?" Asked Dr. Jones.
