Once Again, The Burning Times

Mutants, Gyrich, and Operation Zero Tolerance are the property of Marvel Comics. If any one is offended by my portrayal of Wicca as a legitimate religion, I don't want to hear it. Any Wiccans who wish to correct me about anything, feel free to e-mail.

"And in other news, the world is still in shock at the announcement by Henry P. Gyrich earlier today. For those of you just tuning in, this morning Gyrich revealed the Multi-National Anti-Mutant Task Force called Operation Zero Tolerance. It's stated purpose is to end the mutant menace once and for all."
"Here's to 'em!" someone in the back of the bar shouted.
"Damn strait." another agreed. "Them Muties have been causin' enough trouble!"
Not all in cafe were cheering however. At the bar sat two old friends. Both looked upon the news with horror, and grief. Both were quite familiar with the horrors of what this type of discrimination could bring.
"I'd hoped this would never happen again." One, a boy said. He was 19, and in his second year of college. "It seems we'll never learn sometimes."
"Yeah." the other, a girl, in the same year said. "Harlan Ellison was right. `Those who forget the past, are doomed to repeat it.`"
"Well they're not really forgetting." the boy said. "It' more like they're ignoring it." He fingered the Star of David around his neck. "Hitler thought we were a threat, for no other reason that we were different, and convinced an entire nation that we were to blame for all the world's problems. Why can't people see the similarity here?"
"People are stupid." the girl smiled sadly. "It was only a few hundred years ago that the same was said of my religion." She looked at her watch and winced. "Oh, I've got to go. My coven is holding an emergency meeting."
"If only a spell could just change the government's mind."
The girl flashed her Pentacle at him and smiled. "We'll see what we can do. We did find that lost girl remember?"
"We've all got to do what we can." the boy said. "Hmmm, think I'll stop by the temple tonight myself. Couldn't hurt."
"See you tomorrow." the girl said.
"See you."
The End
