The Wizards Departure (below is the diary of an ozian girl living in the Emerald City the day of
the wizards departure)

9:00 P.M.-The Night after the wizards departure

Dear Diary,
Well today was a very unusual and amazing day that shall go down in history. I can't exactly explain where it all began so I'll just tell you my day from when I woke up this morning. As normal I woke up a 12:00 P.M. and sat around for an hour eating and getting ready for my day. At 1:00 I left the house to head to the day care I just got a job at last week. There was quite a bustle going on as I left for work and I remember wondering what was going on. I asked a jubilant old man standing next to me what had happened and his reply was "the wicked old witch at last is dead!" How perculiar I thought a couple of days ago the witch of the east died now the witch of the west is dead! But knowing I was late already I hurried to the day care and until 4:00 things were fairly quiet.
At 4:00 it was suddenly very busy all the parents coming to get their kids and outside I heard "Ding Dong the witch is dead!" Almost as soon as the last child was taken out with a very happy mother my best friend Samantha came running up. Grabbing my hand she pulled me towards a huge balloon in the middle of the city. "Come on!" She said, "The wizard is leaving with a girl named Dorothy in the balloon we must go watch!" At this time we had reached the city just in time to hear the wizard begin a speech about going up in the balloon to a place called Kansas to confer converse and otherwise hobnob with his fellow wizards. Everyone was very happy and there was clapping laughing and dancing going all around us. He put a scarecrow in charge assisted by a tinman and a lion. Everyone was patting their shoulders and congratulating them. Finally it was time for the wizard and the girl named Dorothy to leave, but just as we were about to leave Dorothy's dog Toto jumped out of her arms to chase a cat! Poor Dorothy jumped out of the balloon to chase her dog and in the commotion the balloon started to leave. Everyone tried with all their might to get the balloon but it was no use the balloon and the wizard had gone leaving Dorothy behind. The poor girl was terribly sad and began to cry as she watched him leave saying she was never going to see Aunt Em and Uncle Henry again. The Scarecrow, tinman, and lion tried to comfort her but the poor girl just sat their crying. At this point many people were crying because we hate to see people so sad and we share their pain. Suddenly a voice cried look! And there was a pink bubble coming down from the sky. It landed next to Dorothy and it became Glenda the good witch of the north. To our surprise she told Dorothy that she had the ability to go home all along and all she had to do was clip her heels three times and say where she wanted to go. As we watched this happen Dorothy suddenly disappeared with Toto in her arms and away she left.
So that diary is why this day will put down in history. I am looking forward to the future but I think we will all miss the Wizard of Oz.
