Seren*
All around me, the world drowns in blood
The blood of foul Orcs and dark men, the blood of Rohan and Gondor
My blade feeds on the blood, its appetite insatiable
Until my own blood becomes food for another
I fall to the ground, my life slowly fading
My soul fleeing this bloody world
And look towards the sky, and wish for a star
In those moments, I see the Star appear
She grips the sword and shield with bone white hands
As she alone faces the Dark Warrior
Her face is terrible with rage, sorrow, and pain
But her eyes are alight; there is no greater honor than to fight the warrior
I cannot let her fall, cannot bear to see her blood flow
I crawl, as pathetically as a newborn babe
She must be saved; she mustn't die!
The beautiful Star must not fade away
But pain and death will not let me help her
And I fall to the ground again, this fall more painful than the first
For I have betrayed the one I love most
The one who shall never know I ever existed
Hopelessness begins to close my eyes, I know Death approaches
I look to my doomed Lady, and see that the Dark One has fallen!
She, the beautiful star, has slain the Dark Lord's highest servant
But then she, too falls, her strength gone, her spirit gravely wounded
I crawl again, and I know I have but moments
But my soul pushes me forward, and I reach her
She is pale, so pale, for Death, too, knocks at her door
I reach out to touch her; her hand is cold
But I know she will live, her heart is so strong
Stronger than any wound or evil
I whisper my love's name, Eowyn, my Seren
And I fall into eternal darkness, knowing she will shine forever
*Seren is Welsh for star
