Saito's Encounter
-Saito-
I just finished a meal in the Akabeko, and just as I was walking out, I saw Kenshin. He wasn't with any one else. Just Kenshin. Sitting there sipping Sake'. I knew something was up, and then Yahiko, came running in. "Kenshin!" Yahiko yelled, "Why did you run away?" "Yahiko" Kenshin said, sounding kind of mad. "I-I just want some time alone that's all." What could Kenshin be alone for? Could it have to do with Shishio? Or maybe even me? Who cares. I was just helping out Kenshin once. Doesn't mean he's my ally.
"Saito. Wait. I have something to discuss with you" I heard Kenshin say. I knew it. It was about me. "I want to discuss our battle with Shishio and his men". Why would he want to discuss this with me? Why not his friends? Did he consider me one? That must have been some kind of code. What could it mean? No. He must mean Shishio. I'm smarter that that. "Will you?" he said. If it was about me I must know. "Sure. Sure Kenshin." I said shakily. "Follow me", he said.
"Shishio was strong," Kenshin began. "I can't help but think that there are stronger enemies out there. Everybody at the dojo is so happy, but I'm sure, within a year, we will have a more powerful adversary, and I don't know if we will be strong enough to face it." Why was he telling me this? "Why are you tell-"I began. "I just thought someone should know. The people at the dojo are my problem. I can't discuss this with them. Do you understand?" "Yes," I said, a bit unsurely. Why me though? Why not... Oh, who else is there? I guess I see his point. "Yes," I repeated. "Good," he said. "Meet me tomorrow at the Akabeko. I have more to discuss. That's all for today. Goodbye Saito" he said "Bye" I replied. I had a lot on my mind.
