Ch. 5
As Sarah and Draco walked along through the masses of students, they were completely unaware of the strange looks they were receiving. 'That can't be Draco Malfoy with a girl!' thought the other students. Sarah and Draco made their way to the student carriages and settled into one. When their carriage reached the front steps and stopped, Sarah got out first and gasped at her first sight of Hogwarts.
"So what do you think?" asked Draco as he climbed down from the carriage and took her hand again.
"It's amazing," said Sarah, unable to take her eyes off the enormous castle.
"More amazing than this?" asked Draco, and he took Sarah into his arms and kissed her. Sarah was taken quite by surprise, but she quickly got over it and gave in.
"Never," she said breathlessly as she pulled away from Draco, and they both smiled.
"Ready for more?" asked Draco. Seeing the look on Sarah's face, he quickly added, "More of the castle, that is." She laughed, and he led her inside.
Sarah didn't know where to look first as she stepped into the Entrance Hall. It was all so incredibly beautiful. It reminded her so strongly of The Academy back home, so big and cozy. Sarah knew immediately that she would fit right in here.
"I wish I could have more time to look around now," sighed Sarah. Just then she remembered something and smiled to herself.
"What is it?" asked Draco. The mysterious smile on her face made him curious.
"I just remembered that I'm Head Girl, so that means I can stay out after hours as long as like." As these words, Draco stopped in his tracks and looked at Sarah.
"You're Head Girl??" he stammered. "I'm Head Boy! That means..."
"We'll be sharing our own dormitory." Sarah finished the sentence for him with a smile, thinking of the all the time they would have alone. Draco smiled as the same thought crossed his mind, then led Sarah into the Great Hall. Draco suddenly realized, when he saw the House tables, that he and Sarah wouldn't be able to sit together during dinner. He had started to lead Sarah to the Grffindor table when a shrill voice behind him called out, "Drakie!"
"Oh no," thought Draco. "Not her, not now..."
But it was too late, for Pansy Parkinson had already started running over to Draco. When she was a few feet away, she stopped, having just noticed Sarah. "Drakie, baby, who is this?" she asked him, giving Sarah what she thought was her most formidable stare. Draco pulled Sarah closer to him and gave her hand a squeeze.
"Don't you love me anymore Drakie?" asked Pansy, faking tears and beginning to pout. "You didn't sit with me on the train," she added in a hurt voice.
"No Pansy, I don't love you, and I never did," replied Draco, turning slightly red. "Just get over it, okay?" And with that, he turned and walked with Sarah into the Great hall, leaving Pansy alone in the doorway.
Ignoring all the whispers and stares, Draco walked sarah over to the Gryffindor table and planted a kiss on her forehead. "Don't mind her," he said. "Pansy has always thought we were together.." Sarah gave him her 'I- know-just-what-you-mean' look, and they smiled.
"So I'll see you after dinner?" Sarah didn't want Draco to leave, but she knew he had to.
"Of course," he smiled. "We'll walk to our dormitory together, okay?" said Draco, not wanting her to leave his sight for a minute. Sarah nodded, and Draco finally let go of her hand and went to the Slytherin table.
Sarah and Draco seated themselves at perfect angles to be able to see each other across the hall. Sarah was so busy looking at Draco, she didn't even notice when Harry, Ron, and Hermione sat down. Hermione even had to poke her several times to break her gaze. "What? Oh, hey guys," she said breathlessly, looking away from Draco for the first time. "What's up?" she asked, seeing the looks on their faces.
Harry spoke first. "What's up? You're really asking that?" he half shouted, scaring Sarah a little. "Do you realize," he went on, "that you spent the entire ride here with Draco Malfoy?? I mean, c'mon Sarah, use your common sense!"
Ron cut in here, obviously sensing that trouble was brewing. "I know you're new and all Sarah, but Mal-ferret is not the kind of person you want to get involved with," said Ron. "You may not see it now, but he's dangerous."
Not knowing what else to do, Sarah turned to Hermione for support, and was hurt when Hermione wouldn't meet her gaze.
"You don't know him," said Sarah, trying to hold back the tears. "Just because you think he's no good doesn't mean it's true!" When no one answered her, she tried again. "So that's it, huh? Just because of who I want to be with, just because you think he's no food, no one's going to want to have anything to do with me?"
Sarah was aware that Dumbledore had just started his usual start-of-term speech, but she didn't care. She couldn't hold back the tears any longer, and without so much as a word from Harry, Ron, or Hermione, Sarah got up and ran from the Great Hall.
Draco had been watching the events at the Grffindor table infold, and when he saw Sarah run from the Great hall, he knew he was the cause. Without thinking, Draco rose from his seat and went after Sarah.
**So there you have it-Ch. 5. I'm really proud of this one, and I hope everyone likes it. I'm not sure when I'll get chapter 6 up since I'm still writing it, but hopefully it'll be within the next few days or so. Sorry to make everyone have to wait. :D**
