The Corps of Davion Lancers
The 1st Davion Lancers were formed in response to the troubles fermenting the old FedCom. In the year 3062, Captain Jackson McCarthy of the 3rd Davion Guards after defeating a contingent of 15th Lyran Regulars on Veil he traveled to the Inner Sphere to warn the people of the approaching war. But he arrived too late, by the time he returned the entire FedCom was embroiled in a Civil War.
Picking up the local Com Guard garrison off of the planets Bucklands and A Place he proceeded to find his friend and Clan War vet Major Michael Pingitore. When he found him, Pingitore was on the planet Halfway in the Lyran half of the FedCom. Pingitore's Battalion from the 3rd Davion Guards had been beaten down to two companies.
His pursuers were the vicious 14th Lyran Guards. For the better part of a year Pingitore had been fighting a running battle with three to one odds. Just as the 14th's Striker Battalion formed up for a final charge Sinclair's relief forces had arrived. Sinclair's own Damocles Lance had been joined by the 51st ComGuard's Alpha Battalion and Zeta Tank Company.
The sight of reinforcements gave the battered Davion Guards a new hope and the allied forces routed the 14th long enough so that they could escape. The group received a priority HPG message from Lt. General Jerrod Cranston, Prince Davion's exec. The message activated the 1st Davion Lancers, a new mobile strike force. From Halfway the Lancers went across the FedCom picking up other shattered units and supplies. On Outreach the Lancers assembled another company out of ex-FedCom soldiers.
Then on orders the unit visited Coventry an important 'Mech producing world to drop off their newly made 3rd Battalion for garrison, the 3rd Batt was made up of Clan bondsmen from Pingitore's last battle against the Jade Falcon Clan. From there the unit traveled to Summer, the site of the mercenary unit, the Stormriders, last stand.
The Lyran task-force had left a garrison battalion behind and the last vestiges of the 'Riders had been sniping at the GB for six months, but by the time they arrived the last remnants of the 'Riders were gone. As their JumpShips prepared to leave Summer they received a message from AFFS command telling them to link up with new unit's 3rd Battalion on Coventry to save them from the Lyran Task Force from Summer....
