My notes: Thanks, as always to my reviewers. They are, thus far, Ara Kane, Josie21612, and Jamaican Sunshine! Jamaican Sunshine is my BEST friend, and she just registered on ffn. So when she gets her first fic up, please give it a look. It's shaping up to be a good one. And please forgive her if her reviews for me are slightly biased. :-)

My reviews for her will be, too!

~Chapter 6: Petey~

Hey y'all. Let me start off by saying that I hope this helps you kids to understand what a great guy your father was. He might be the best guy I ever met.

So hear I go with the Petey Jones version of "Gerry's Story." Umm... I gusee I'll start by explaining a little bit about how me and Bertier related to each other. After everybody pretty much got along (with the exception of Ray Budds, but that's another story), Bertier was like a big brother to us. I could always count on him and Big Ju to have my back every minute when we were at TC. And I needed the extra help more than once. Reason being that I, unfortunately, don't have a reputation at TC for knowing when to keep my mouth shut. So Gerry and Big Ju had more than their fair share of "saving Petey's butt" crap going on. It almost wasn't fair. Because I always talked myself into situations that Bertier and Campbell would have to fight me out of.

Like the time a big white jerk at school threatened me. He said, "Are you talking to my girl?"

And I made the mistake of saying, "I don't see any livestock around here, so I don't know what you're talkin' about." [Remember, I don't know when to keep my big mouth shut! Maybe I need a friend that I take everywhere, who tells me to shut up once in a while. Or maybe twice or three times in a while. :-)]

The guy and his two buddies proceeded to beat the crap out of me. Bertier and Big Ju came through the crowd and pulled them off of me. It got Bertier a bloody nose, and he and Big Ju both got quite a few insults out of that deal. But I never forgot it. Those two saved my butt more times than I like to remember. That was the biggest fight I think I ever got them into.

Bertier was a good guy. A good linebacker. A good friend. I was so proud when Ronnie was born, and I heard that Gerry and Emma gave him Jones for a middle name. I was glad that they thought enough of me to give my name to their kid.

You kids had some Daddy. Anybody tough enough to have "big-mouth" Petey's back, is a guy worth knowing.
