Extinction : My Immortal
Laughter and common conversation was heard throughout the STN-J building. It was Halloween and the crew thought it would be a nice change to liven up a little by celebrating the holiday with liquor and costumes. Doujima danced around in her devil-looking costume. It seemed that she was the cheerful one lately, even though Robin had been retrieved and survived the vampire attack a week ago. She sat herself beside Micheal, whom was sipping gracefully at a Blood Mary, and rested her head in her palm.
"What's with everyone? I mean, shouldn't we be happy that Robin's okay, besides the tiny limp? And it's Halloween!! A reason to party!!" Micheal shrugged, adjusting his jester's hat. He wasn't much for the holiday, but he thought it best to also try and lighten things up.
"I don't know Doujima. Ever since Amon delivered the news of what happened at the von Blaine mansion, he's been quite distant. He's leaving details out, I know he is."
"And Sakaki?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well just look at him." Both turned their heads to find and sullen Sakaki sitting at his desk and staring at the coffee pot. He twirled a decorated pen on the table beside him, his eyes never leaving the pot of coffee. "He's been like this ever since he got back. He's depressed but nobody knows why. "
"Just leave him be for now." Karasuma's voice startled the two semi- adults. "Something happened at that mansion and it's best if he works this out on his own." Micheal and Doujima nodded in agreement and watched Sakaki stand and leave the premisis.
Rain softly pounded against Amon's shoulders as he watched costumed children run about the streets with bags of candy and umbrellas. It was dark, but only because of the rain clouds, giving the park he had stationed himself in an eerie glow to it. He shivered from the cold and rain mixed together, but found that the droplets were no longer falling upon him. He glanced up and found a violet umbrella covering most of his masculine form. Beside him sat Robin, an innocent smile playing against her usually reserved features.
"Shouldn't you be catching up on your rest?" His voice was was quieter than usual. It was no more the demanding tone that Robin had first heard when she set foot in the STN-J.
"The doctor says i'm healing quite well and said that it was okay to get some fresh air. Do you wish me to leave? I didn't mean to sneak up on you like that." She went to stand but was pulled back down by Amon strong hand.
"No. Stay." The two sat in silence for some time before Robin decided to speak up.
"Thank you for coming after me. I had almost lost hope there."
"Andolan asked me to thank you before she passed on." His eyes seemed to melt before Robin, causing her brow to scrunch up in worry.
"Was that all she told you? You seem awfully upset by her death."
"It's not that. She made me realize something before we went off to find you."
"What?"
"The dreams I had been having were trying to warn me. In my dreams I had killed you, but it wasn't me as I later found out. Crevin had disguised himself as me.....my dreams were trying to warn me."
"And Andolan made you realize this warning?"
"No, she told me the story and..." Robin was fearing the worst. Why was he stalling his words? Her question was answered by Amon's lips pressed agaisnt hers. Never before in her life had she encountered such tenderness, such warmth. It was a feeling she had thought lost but was regained the moment she had laid eyes upon the cold hunter.
"I've tried so hard...."
"Shh..." Just this one time. She just wanted this one moment to last as long as possible. Amon didn't need words to communicate the emotions flowing between them. Everything they ever wanted to say to each other was packed up in that kiss. And that enough for the both of them. Robin was laying in the arms of her angel; she was happy with that one small fact. The embrace continued, even when the umbrella dropped from Robin's hands and floated along a small puddle.
Sakaki paused in front of a homemade haunted house. Three kids came out screaming and laughing all in the same breath and continued skipping along, bragging about which candy they had gained. Sakaki smiled to himself and walked in the entrance, coming upon a room filled with an orange glow; created by the crazy smiles of jack-o-laterns. He paused in front of one pumpkin and stared at its design: a large profile of a Harley Davidson. He chuckled underneath his breath at the memory of the jet black motorcycle. He was so entranced by the squash that he failed to sense the presence of another.
"Three hours worth of work right there. Though, I think the tires are a little off but i'm not one to complain." Sakaki twirled around to meet an emerald-eyed, raven-haired, woman of ancient beauty. It looked like she hadn't aged since their last meeting.
"It's perfect." The girl smiled and motioned towards a door in the back.
"If you wanna see real art, check this thing out..." She pulled open the heavy door and walked inside the dark room. Moments later, she was carrying out a large pastel painting. "I love this thing. Don't know the meaning of it, but it's gorgeous." Sakaki leaned over the painting, instantly recognizing it.
"It is. Did you know you can see a portrait of Jerry Lee Lewis in the trees?" The woman smiled, the full brilliance showing through.
"Yes!! There's a jar peanut butter in there too!" She stuck out a warm hand, the ivory sleeves of her costume sliding down her arms. She was an angel. Of all things, Sakaki thought. The bright wings hovered over her slim shoulders, giving the full affect of her ebony locks. "The name's Andolan." Sakaki welcomed her hand, for once, feeling the warmth that the former vampire had been deprived of for so long.
"Sakaki."
"Well...Sakaki, why aren't you in costume? It IS All Hallow's Eve for crying out loud!"
"You want to go get a cup of coffee? Or cappuccino?"
"Sounds great! Just go let me tell my brother and father so they won't think I abandoned them or something." As she made her to the other door, she suddenly tripped, only to have Sakaki's arms break her fall. Sakaki grinned at the blushing Andolan.
"A fallen angel gets a second chance..."
Doujima picked up the last plastic cup and threw it in the trashbag before finally collapsing against the breakroom sofa. Her hair was a mess and her makeup had smeared during the night.
"The nerve of those three. Leaving us to do the dirty work."
"Well Sakaki called and said he had a long overdue date to make."
"It's a good thing Amon found that diary entry so Andolan could read the truth." Karasuma and Micheal glanced up from their own trashbags. "What?"
"Andolan couldn't have read that entry Doujima...", Karasuma said slowly.
"And why not? She sounded like a bright girl to me." Micheal pushed up his glasses and pulled off the jester's hat.
"The diary entry was in Japanese."
"Point?"
"She had no formal training in the language. That's why Sakaki went after her."
"But she was in the Eastern Clan."
"She may have resided with the Eastern Clan but she was originally from the Western Clans. Greece to be exact." Doujima gawked at her comrades.
"So how did she know that Crevin was the bretrayer?"
She was a Judge. She had let that be known from the first moment. Amon glanced down at the sleeping Robin on his lap. The damn woman had judged him before they rescued the Craft-user. And with good reason. She couldn't read the entry and was too proud to ask Sakaki to read it. She trusted her instincts about Crevin but judged Amon just to be sure. She had to make sure that his love for the girl was an undying devotion. That he would risk everything and anything to save her life. Unlike the imposter had done over a century again. He sighed and brushed a hand through Robin's hair. For once, she had left it down. The rain subsided, giving a clear scene or blooming romance at Harry's. Amon had to rub his eyes to make sure that what he was seeing was real. His angel had come back....
Again, short but sweet. Hope you enjoyed!! If you enjoyed my vampires in this story then don't be shy and read my upcoming one about Hellsing.....title will be announced as soon as I get everything set up!! Adios muchachos!!!
