Summer Roberts walked up to the counter, her arms full of shirts and jeans
from Forever 21. Saturdays were made for parties, shopping, boys, and
friends as far as she was concerned.
A guy who seemed to be in his early twenties with sandy brown hair and a tan was behind the register. Two out of four wasn't bad. "I'm done!" Summer sighed as she took her wallet out of her black jelly bag.
"Summer?" a confused voice behind her asked.
Summer spun around to find none other then Holly Fisher standing in line behind her. She was wearing tight low-rise jeans, high-heeled sandals and a lacey blue and white tube top. "Leave it to Holly to skank up a cute outfit," Summer thought to herself.
She pasted a noticeably fake smile on her face. "Yeah, people tend to call me that," she replied.
Holly giggled. "How have you been?" Holly asked, walking closer and looking Summer up and down. Her expression seemed to disapprove of the front pocket jeans and wine-colored satin tank top Summer was wearing.
"Great, even better then before," Summer said, trying to hint at Holly that she wasn't interested in rekindling their friendship.
"Me too! I'm going out with—"Holly began.
"Chip, I know. That's...great," Summer interrupted unenthusiastically.
"And you're going out with, um, what his name? Oh yeah, Seth Cohen?" Holly asked with a smirk.
"Yeah. He's awesome, it's going so well," Summer said turning to pick up her bags at the counter.
"Mm-hm," Holly said with a nod, "So, I never thought I'd find you here!"
Summer raised an eyebrow. "Why?" she asked.
"It's like, inexpensive. I didn't think people at Harbor shopped for tops that are like ten bucks and capris that are like, five," Holly explained.
"You've always been good at math," Summer quipped.
Holly had a puzzled look on her face, "That didn't even require math!" she exclaimed.
Summer rolled her eyes. She needed to get out of this conversation.
"Anyway!" Holly continued, "I shop here because we've been a little low on money, I mean, we're getting it back but right now I can't spend as much on clothes. Thanks, Marissa!"
Summer let out a deep breath. How could one girl be so obnoxious, stupid, annoying and slutty all at once? She didn't want to make a scene in the mall. Lashing out at Holly could be saved for lunch at school or morning breaks in between classes. "I have a really bad craving for a brownie frappacino right now, so I'm gonna head down to Starbucks. It was good to...I'll see you later," she said, trying to make her exit as quickly as possible.
"Definitely! Call my cell!" Holly said as Summer left, "Or I'll call you!" she shouted.
"Please don't," Summer muttered under her breath.
