The New Team
Harry made his way onto the pitch for the first match of the season in his sixth year - his first year as captain.
He looked around his team once more and grinned.
Ravenclaw didn't stand a chance.
There were Alicia and Katie, the old school. He knew he could pretty much trust them with anything when it came to Quidditch.
Ron - whose confidence in keeping had shot up since last summer – could still be heard humming 'Wealsey is our King' occasionally. Harry wasn't going to stop him – Ron was a good keeper, he just needed to remind himself of the fact.
Ginny, who was thrilled to be taking Angelina's place as Chaser, flipped her ponytail. Harry smiled as he watched her give a little excited jump.
If Harry thought that Ginny was excited, it was nothing to the repressed anticipation of Colin and Dennis Creevy, the new beaters. They didn't quite have Fred and Georges' style, but he had been surprised at how forcefully they could hit the Bludgers – he just hoped that they repeated on the field what they did in practices.
Yeah, he thought, we should be okay.
His heart beat even faster as he led his team (he led his team) onto the pitch.
He turned round to give them all a broad grin, and Ron winked at him.
This is life.
The noise of the crowd was deafening: Harry rose his head a little higher, made his back a little straighter.
He shook hands with the Ravenclaw captain, and they set off.
Harry took his usual place high above the stadium. Then he paused for a moment; the crowds cheering was reaching fever pitch. Then it calmed, and group of about five began:
Let me hear you, let it roar!
They were answered by the rest of the Gryffindors and most of the Hufflepuffs:
Let me hear you, let it roar!
Go and get them, Gryffindor!
Alicia, Ginny, Katie Bell!
Get the Quaffle, give 'em hell!
RON WEASLEY, keeps 'em out!
Creevy brothers can knock 'em about!
Harry Potter's gonna catch the Snitch,
'Cos we rock when it comes to Quidditch!
LET ME HEAR YOU, LET IT ROAR!
GO AND GET THEM, GRYFFINDORRRRRRR!!!
A/N: Please tell me what you think – constructive criticism very welcome!
