Change.
Corrine sat down and closed her eyes the throbbing in her head abating. The children had been bickering all day, Megan grizzling because of a cold. Finally they were asleep. Where was Vic? Who knew?
When they'd married they'd both seen it as a partnership. Since he'd been leading the Strike Team Vic had become the silent partner in their marriage.
He was seldom home, never there when she needed him. He had his life outside the home, what did she have. The house and mommy activities, that was it. Was that who she was now, all she was? All she wanted was for Vic to share some of the burden. All she wanted was some time to herself. Time when she could just be Corrine.
She'd told him things had to change that their marriage wasn't working. The change hadn't come. She knew his job was important to him, but she wanted their marriage to be equally important. Corrine felt her needs were at the bottom of a long list of Vic's priorities.
Sighing Corrine made her way to bed, picking up some discarded toys. Once more she climbed into a cold, empty bed thinking things had to change.
