A/N: Wow... quick update!! Okay... I know the whole 'let's just get 'em going
to the party' thing is hard to wait for, but it's coming!! I promise!!!
"Dylan!" Paige called out her older brother's name, making him turn from a group of friends from hockey.
"Yeah?" Dylan called back, as his sister came closer. He gave his friends a little motion, excusing them to continue on to their next classes.
"You're going with Marco to the party on Friday, right?" Paige asked as she leaned onto the metal lockers.
"Yeah... unfortunately," Dylan mumbled, leaning opposite to his sister.
"What was that for?" Paige asked, cocking her head a bit to the side.
"Never mind. Why did you need to know?" Dylan asked, turning his head to see down the hallway.
"No particular reason... I'm kinda asking around to see who's going and who they're taking," Paige explained, her being the regular gossip queen.
"Really?" Dylan asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Uh-huh..." Paige took a white notepad out of her book bag and flipped it a couple of pages.
"Me and Spinner, naturally... Emma Nelson and Chris Sharpe, you wouldn't know them... You and Marco... Jessy Collins and Jake O' Rourke, you wouldn't know them, either... Heather Sinclair and Jimmy..." she looked up from her notebook. "She needs a date to her own party... pathetic," she looked back to the notebook, but Dylan stopped her.
"Wait... doesn't Jimmy have a girlfriend?" Dylan asked.
"Yeah... Haze... but they're having some problems. Something about Jimmy being too over-powering... poor girl..."
"So, is that it? May I go, or do I have to stay and listen to you ramble on?" Dylan teased.
"No, Mr. Smart-Aleck, you don't have to stay. But this is your off-period, isn't it?"
"Yes, but it's Marco's too..." Dylan said with an evil grin.
Paige lightly punched his arm, laughing. Dylan laughed back, waved goodbye, and continued down the hallway. Paige shook her head, and went to find other victims, this being her off-period also. She turned the corner to the Degrassi Lanes, the most popular locker area. She stopped halfway when she saw Craig talking to Ashley, the two laughing together.
"So Ash... are you going to that party on..." Paige overheard Craig talking.
"I'd love to," Ashley cut him off.
"Really?" Craig asked, surprised.
"Sure... everyone's going. Why not me too?" Ashley said with a smile.
"Great! I'll pick you up at six?"
"Super," Ashley said, still smiling.
She started to walk in Paige's direction, only stopping to peck Craig on the cheek. Craig faked a goofy 'I'm in love' smile, and grabbed her hand for a second, but she pulled away and walked in the other direction, catching up with Paige.
"Hey! You looked pretty cozy with someone over there..." Paige greeted.
"Oh, yeah. He's been really sweet lately," Ashley blushed.
"That's so great, hon," Paige smiled. "Just... be careful," Paige's smile kind of faded.
"Of what?" Ashley looked confused, even though she knew exactly what Paige was talking about.
"He hurt you once, sweetie. Just don't let it happen again," Paige warned.
"Thanks for the concern, Paige, but I'll be fine. Craig's different now," Ashley seemed sure of herself.
Paige smiled again, and took her notebook back out. She wrote another couple down on it.
"Ashley and Craig..." she said as she wrote it.
"What is that?" Ashley asked, as they continued walking towards the courtyard.
"Just my little inside scoop... it's fun keeping track of other people's love lives. I mean, your date to this party is even bigger than your date to the semi-formal!" Paige said.
"Wow... that's a big deal," Ashley remarked.
"Yeah... only a couple are on the singles list here..." Paige said, as Ashley craned her neck to see the other side of the page.
"Liberty's not on the 'singles' list for once... shocker," Ashley laughed.
"Her and that gang guy really hit it off, as I take it," Paige looking over the page.
Ashley turned her attention to the 'couples' list.
"Jimmy's going with Heather Sinclair??" Ashley asked, shocked.
"Don't ask." Paige said sternly.
"Sean and Ellie... knew they'd always make a good couple." Ashley said.
"The vampire and the thief... sounds like a good book title," Paige said, making both of them laugh.
"JT and Manny... good enough for me. As long as she's out of the picture for me and Craig to take way," Ashley said dreamily.
"Definitely. And Manny's good for my JT... he seems very... happy," Paige smiled.
"Your JT?" Ashley asked questionably.
"Hey! I've grown protective over the little runt," Paige said caringly.
"Sure, Michalchuck," Ashley laughed.
"Speaking of Micalchucks... notice who my brother's escorting?" Paige asked mischievously.
"Marco and he are so cute together," Ashley said, noticing the two in the hallway looking rather cozy, with Marco's head on Dylan's shoulder and Dylan's arm wrapped around Marco's shoulder, both of their eyes closed.
"He makes Dylan so happy," Paige commented, noticing them also.
"Should we wake them up?"
"No... the bell should be a good start for them," Paige laughed.
Ashley laughed also, and took a seat on the bench when they finally had reached the courtyard. She took out a book she was reading, and Paige started to make alterations to her list.
"Wait... is Toby going with anyone?" Paige asked, looking up from the list.
"No... he and Kendra broke up last week," Ashley said, not looking up from her book.
"Oh. Okay," Paige said, dismissing the subject.
There was a silence between the two for a while, at least fifteen minutes, when Ashley put her book down in her lap with a slightly crazy and worried look in her eyes.
"What?" Paige asked, when she saw Ashley's face.
"Paige... doesn't Heather have a brother?"
"Yeah, last time I recalled he was in grade twelve."
"In grade twelve... where?" Ashley said, with an even more worried tone in her voice.
As Paige heard what Ashley said, her face went pale and she didn't say anything for a couple of seconds.
"Bardell," Paige croaked.
