Chapter One – DayDreamer
'He walks by me every morning. But all I get is a polite "Good Morning" and a genuine rurouni smile and that is it. If only I could be in his arms for only a second before I die. I would die today is he would just kiss me once. You had a wife when you were the Battossai. But I still offered my house, my food, and my love, but U have never received you love in return...'
As she was thinking to herself, she bypassed the same people she passes every afternoon. "Good morning Miss Kaoru!" greeted Tae from the Akabeko.
"Morning Tae" She went passed the Akabeko and headed home. Before she went in she stopped by the small lake.
"My Favorite place to be." She leaned against the Sakura tree and let herself drift away in her mind-boggling dream.
While Kaoru was taking a nap, Kenshin was walking her direction with the tofu he bought for the upcoming dinner. "I hope miss Kaoru is okay, that I do." He thought about what had happened earlier this morning...
(Flashback)
Kaoru walked from her room and into the kitchen where she saw him. His warm, gentle eyes. His brightly tattered hair. How many times has she dreamt of running her fingers through his gorgeous, red hair. He was fixing breakfast as usual while the others were sleeping.
"Did you sleep well Miss Kaoru?"
"Yes I did, and I hope you did, too?"
"That I did!" once said she started gazing into his violet eyes and fell into a daydream. Even though her mind was somewhere else, she continued to walk towards Kenshin...
(End Flashback)
'Why didn't I pay attention?' she though to herself. 'I could have avoided that situation all together!'
(Flashback)
...almost in the kitchen, she looked down just as she tripped and was falling towards the floor.
'Kaoru' he thought and in a flash he was with Kaoru on the floor. There they were on the floor together. He had Kaoru in his arms protecting her from harm.
He gently clutched her body to himself afraid to let go. He finally brought his head up and started to look her over, making sure she was okay.
She fluttered her eyes open and at that moment violet met blue. He brought his hand up to her face and tenderly brushed her hair behind her ear. A light blush appeared on her face.
"Are you okay, Miss Kaoru?" he whispered to her. She slowly got up from his embrace and was able to stand on her own.
"Yeah I think I'm okay." He stood up and stood next to her.
"Good!" he said in a low, relaxing voice.
Her cheeks turned even redder the longer he stared at her with those violet eyes filled compassion and concern.
"Why are you staring at busu, Kenshin?" Yahiko interrupted.
Kaoru's eyes grew several sizes before she darted out of the house...
(End Flashback)
She slowly drifted back to sleep, listening to the wind blow and the bird's peaceful song. The last image she saw was Kenshin with sakura petals falling all around him. "I must be dreaming..."
