Here you go, btw, I won't be doing any updates in the next four days or more. So I'll be putting two chapters up right now.

Leba stopped to catch her breath.

"This is where Merlin said he and Mary saw the Fey," Griff announced over the small radio.

Leba looked up to the roof of the building on the other side of the road. "See anything," She asked Griff, who had just landed on the roof.

"Yeah," Griff replied, "I see a pair of footprints, and nothing else." He bent down to get a closer look, but the two footprints were all he could see. Caval sniffed the footprints and searched the rest of the roof, his nose down to the ground. Caval sniffed the entire roof, and when he had done that he leaped to the next roof and continued his sear. But he found nothing; he looked up, peered at Griff, confused, as if he were wondering what was going on.

Griff sighed, picked Caval up into his arms, and glided down to join Leba. "Nothing," he reported, "there were only those two footprints, but Caval couldn't find his scent on the rest of the roof, or any of the other roofs nearby."

Leba shook her head, and paused. For one slight moment she felt as if someone were watching them. She stared over her shoulder into the alley behind her, but there was nothing there except shadows. She turned back to Griff and Caval, finding the two gargoyles staring intently into the alley she realized they had felt it too.

"We may not have found anything here," she whispered, "but I think it's safe to say he's still around."

Griff nodded uneasily, slowly turning his gaze from the empty alley. "We'd better get back to the shop," he said, "Arthur will want to know that we couldn't find a trace of this 'Jack'. Besides," he added, "Michael called in earlier, the manhattan clan should be arriving soon."

Leba frowned, "Why are they coming?" She asked, slowly moving away from the shadows.

"It's a sort of 'play date' arranged for the children," Griff replied, helping Leba climb onto his back. "The mother of the two children in the manhattan clan was worried that her children were not around other gargoyle children like themselves enough. Since the children weren't allowed to go to the last World Council," he continued climbing up the wall, "She and Michael decided to bring them over here to meet our children."

"Why here?" Leba asked, hanging on for dear life, "Why not one of the other clans?"

"Well, the Caledonian clan doesn't have any hatchlings the age of the Manhattan clan's, and the other Clans are too far away." Griff paused to shift Cavall into a position easier to carry for him. So great was their unease that they did not care for the complications involved with how they were trying to glide.

Griff leapt from the side of the building, his feathered wings catching the night air and lifting them away from the ground. With a labored flap of his wings he lifted them even higher, his wings, while giving the London Gargoyles better speed and agility than their bat winged cousins, were less adapted to carrying large weight like the scottish gargoyles were.

But while the London Gargoyles had a slightly better edge at agility, the scottish gargoyles remained some of the largest around, which could be seen by Goliath and Quade's size. What took a London Gargoyle several flaps of his wings could be achieved by the Scottish Gargoyles in a single flap. The advantage of membranous wings was that they were able to catch all the wind under their wings and gain the maximum lift possible.

So Griff labored to gain altitude, burdened by a weight that would have seemed like very little to even some of the smaller Scottish Gargoyles. If it were not for their uneasy feeling Griff would have let Leba walk back to the shop.

But even as they glided away, neither Griff nor Leba were able to shake the feeling that someone, or something, was watching them.

The cloaked figure stepped out of the shadows of the alley. It sneered, the fools, their gargoyle beast was not the only thing that could track. It had them now, and soon the one it was searching for would be its and it would finally accomplish his goals.
