Her Royal Majesty, then and now
Thayet POV. Follow as she marries Jon, starts the riders, and...stuff. Includes a whole chappie on the pink tissue dress! Sorry, I'm a bit obsessed with the pink tissue dress. J/T. I'm not really a JT, but it ties up Jon and thus promotes AG, which is like woot!
The proposal
"My lady?" a nervous maid poked her head into Thayet's room, "his Majesty asks to see you, if it's at all okay."
Thayet, embroidering by the window, turned to glance at the maid. What did Jon want that couldn't wait? It was only eight in the morning. Putting down her work with a slight puzzled frown, the princess left her room. She made her way through the maze of corridors that was the palace, and found Jonathan at his study.
"Jon?" She entered the room without knocking and said, "you wanted me?"
"Thayet," Jon turned around. He was wearing one of his best outfits, a blue that emphasized his eyes perfectly. She was again reminded how much she loved him. It scared her, a little.
"I thought...I just wanted to talk."
Thayet raised an eyebrow. "Talk, as in..."
"Thayet," Jon took a deep breath, "I just wanted you to know how much you mean to me. The times we spend together are one of the best of my life. I enjoy your company no matter when or where, and I admire your strength. You know how beautiful you are, especially in my eyes. I love you."
Thayet stared back at him, touched. King Jonathan wasn't the type of person who made speeches, and neither was he sentimental. But now that he did, she knew how much he cared for her. And she knew that she felt the same in return.
"Jon," she whispered, "I love you too."
Jonathan took something out of his pocket. "Thayet," he asked formally, "will you marry me?"
The Princess gaped back at him. He'd just made a proposal. Sure, she loved him, but to marry him? That was completely different. She didn't know what to think.
She'd gone to the desert a few weeks ago to visit Alanna. Now that she knew she wasn't stealing her friend's man, she was feeling better about her and Jon, but still...marriage? That was a huge step. One that she wasn't at all sure she wanted to take.
There were so many good reasons for her to say yes. But she was so happy not to go through the whole political marriage, and she just wasn't sure how she felt. It was really weird.
"Take some time to think about it," Jon advised her, "I learnt long ago not to rush someone in something this serious. *Author's note: personally I don't think he has, but hey! Story here.*
"I will," Thayet promised, "and I love you."
"I love you too," Jon said, "no matter what you decide to do, I always will."
