Disclaimer: I don't own anyone in this poem but I do own the poem. I actually wrote it about an ex of mine but in a fit of angst I changed the words and stuck it on here. So there you go. No flames please. Constructive criticism welcome. I probably should've taken more time with this but I wanted to get it up quick. The verses in italics are memories, the others are now.

AnaMaria's Lament
The moon it was a glowing sphere, an orb of perfect light,
It bathed us in its splendour and the stars were twinkling bright.
You whispered softly in my ear, "Everything's alright,
Because wherever we are, the moon and stars will shine there every night."
You took my heart in your salt-grained hands as we walked along the bay,
We sauntered slowly arm in arm and promised never to stray,
The we heard the shout from our ship, "The Navy comes, we can't stay",
As Gibbs swore sincere to come back for us here the Black Pearl sailed away.
You marched me quickly up the road 'til we were out of town,
And said you'd find us somewhere safe while the Navy was around.
Sure they wouldn't bother us I told you to calm down.
"Ana you see, they're after me", you stared hard at the ground.
We found a solitary barn, full of rats and straw,
We climbed up to the hayloft and curled up on the floor.
I kept watch without you knowing as you began to snore.
I couldn't sleep for fear, they were after you dear, more serious than before.
I was startled by a sound outside, I must've slept as well,
Someone had set the barn on fire, up here was hot as Hell.
I screamed along with the panicked rats as they were alerted by the smell.
You woke with a shout, yelled at me to get out, then the roof creaked and fell.
You didn't give in without a fight and I tried to help you Jack,
But you knocked me out to save me, apologised as my world went black.
When I awoke with an aching head you were gone, but the Pearl was back,
So I showed Gibbs the way to the barn where we stayed and my heart began to crack.
I stood in the field some time later, feeling in a daze,
The smoke from the still smouldering barn had left a shimmering haze,
Which made even worse my stinging eyes, my already blurry gaze,
And I explained to the crew how the sailors forced you and me our separate ways.
Now still the memory lingers of your oddity and charm,
Of your ever moving fingers, of your strong yet tender arms,
I feel you wrap them around me as we shelter in the barn,
And as I sleep I know you'll keep me safe from pain and harm.
In a way you're still here with me though you're too far away to bear,
I dream that I can feel your braids, the baubles in your hair,
I reach across my empty bunk, already knowing you're not there.
Not wanting to cry as the world passes by, I go up on deck for some air.
I see the moon, a glowing sphere, an orb of perfect light,
And directly above me, the stars are shining bright.
Their beauty reassures me that everything's alright,
Because wherever you are the moon and stars will be shining there tonight.
