CHAPTER ONE— Black Blindness

The woman walked into the store; her milky white eyes and dark complexion a stark contrast. Her face was sharply angled and her body was as sharply angled as her face. Her dark brown hair and creamy mocha skin showed her mixed heritage, English and African. She had no Egyptian blood in her; her skin was too dark to be Egyptian, but too pale to be pure Kenyan.
"May I help you, Anne?" the man at the counter of the antique store asked in a voice that had a heavy Egyptian accent.
The blind woman known as Anne turned her unseeing eyes to the source of the sound. "Yes," she replied in a low, heavily accented tone. "I want the ivory and gold neckband you described to me yesterday, Mohammed." She smoothed her white ceremonial dress down and adjusted the thick gold armband on her upper arm. The broad gold band was set with a massive turquoise that had a carving on it. The Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics markings were a prayer to Set, the Egyptian God of Chaos. She was a witch deeply involved in black magic and wicked spells and evil enchantments.
"Ah, that was the necklace belonging to Eshe, claimed to be the daughter of Seti the First and his mistress Anck-sa-namun. It was found at Hamunaptra by Evelyn O'Connell." Mohammed wrapped the beautiful necklace in gold chiffon, something that the witch Anne paid him extra for.
Anne gripped the gold and silver cane when she heard the name of the woman who had found the artifact. "Nephertiri," she muttered under her breath. She grabbed the necklace and walked blindly out of the store. She had to find this daughter of Seti, who was reincarnated. She had to. It was her destiny.
