A/N: Thank you for all of the fabulous reviews! They make me happy. LoL. I
hope that you enjoy this as well...review!
April passed and May began in the blink of an eye. Sarah entered her 7th month of pregnancy smoothly as Lucy started her fifth. On May 19th, Sarah called Lucy and asked her to meet her at Baby Land to go shopping. Lucy gladly accepted, and they met there at two PM.
They carefully maneuvered their shopping carts through the isles of the store. Now that the truth about Sarah and Chloe was finally out in the open, she got to wear tight maternity shirts to show off her 7-month stomach. Her cart was filled with little pink baby outfits...jammies, dresses, and onesies. Sarah stopped in the middle of the isle, grabbed her stomach and giggled out loud.
"Oh, Chole's kicking!" She laughed. "It feels so weird!"
"Hey, don't complain!" Lucy said. "I have three kicking me!" They laughed and continued walking.
"You have my sympathy." Sarah told her. They walked up and down each isle. When they finally reached the cribs, Lucy looked at them carefully.
"Do you think I should get the cribs now?" She asked with her hand protectively over her stomach.
"Nah. Wait until after your baby shower...you never know what you'll get..." She said with a sly smile. Lucy nodded her head and winked at Sarah.
"Good point." She said happily. They finished up their shopping and went to pay for everything. Sarah used her $50 gift card that Lucy had given her. After they paid, they got into Sarah's car and drove back to Lucy's house. When they got there, they walked up to the door, turned the key, and walked inside. Lucy leaned over and flipped on the lights.
"Surprise!" Lucy's jaw dropped and she turned slowly to Sarah who had a wide smile on her face.
"Come on, I had to get you out of the house. You get a shower too..." She said with a sly grin. Lucy went and hugged everyone in attendance: Annie, Eric, Sam, David, Matt (and of course Sarah), Simon, Cecilia, Peter and Ruthie. Kevin came out from behind the crowd and kissed her.
"Surprise." He said. Lucy laughed.
"We're only sorry that Mary and Carlos had to leave before we could do this for you!" Annie said with a sympathetic smile. Lucy smiled back at her and agreed. Kevin had prepared an early dinner for the large family. After eating mounds of spaghetti, bread sticks, and apple sauce (Lucy's favorite meal), they went into the family room where there were seats set up. Lucy sat down in the easy chair by Kevin's instructions. She was handed a giant card. She read it aloud.
"Dear Lucy and Kevin, Now that you are going to be the parents of three in just a few months, we all wanted to do something special for you to make your journey into parent hood as easy as possible. We each put in some money and got you this gift. We hope that it's helpful to you five. Love, Sarah, Matt, Mom, Dad, Mary, Carlos, Simon, Cecilia, Peter, Ruthie, Sam, and David." Lucy looked around but so no gift. Eric put his hand over Lucy's eyes and Annie covered Kevin's eyes.
"Lucy?" Kevin said.
"What's going on, Kev?" She asked.
"I don't know!" He said.
"You've been home longer than I have!"
"Well I didn't see anything, honest!"
"OK, quiet down you two!" Said Annie and Eric. They lead the blind couple to the door of the formally empty room that was going to be for the babies, which was just across the hall from Kevin and Lucy's room. Sarah opened the door and Eric and Annie uncovered Lucy and Kevin's eyes. They gasped.
"Oh my..." Lucy said and trailed off.
"Woooow." Kevin murmured. In the room standing before their eyes, three cribs were set up. There were blankets in each crib, and tons of baby clothes. There were two brand new rocking chairs and all kinds of new baby furniture. Kevin and Lucy were speechless.
"Once you two know if the babies are boys or girls, let Me, Sarah, or Cecilia know right away." Annie told them. "We'll give you some gender appropriate crib bedding, and some clothes from when our kids were babies."
"Th—thank you." Lucy stuttered.
"Thank you so much!" Kevin said. They went around and hugged everyone with over flowing gratitude. Lucy had tears on her cheeks. After thanking everyone profusely, the party finally dwindled down. After everyone was gone and all was cleaned up, Kevin and Lucy walked into the room that their three babies would soon be sharing. They walked around and looked at everything in silence. Sarah had been right...she really did get cribs at her shower. With that thought, Lucy smiled, and Kevin joined her in complete silence.
