Disclaimer: I don't own anything. The great Lucas owns all.

His steps pounded on the beautiful marble floors as he ran down the familiar hall. He knew he was being followed by the guards, but he also knew that he must complete his mission. His assignment is exactly what stopped him in his tracks. 'How can I do this?' he thought to himself. Just as he had finished his though, there was laser fire directed at him. He turned and ignited his light saber. Each and every blast that was sent his way was sent to hit other various objects. Once the bombardment ceased, he withdrew his weapon and placed it back on his belt. He again continued his running in search of her. Padmé. Just her name made him quiver. He needed her. And that is why he had trouble in carrying out his duty. He knew that he must obey his master, but he still was very conflicted.

Anakin finally reached the door he was searching for. He keyed in the secret code and entered the room that he had become so accustomed to. And there she was. Looking as beautiful as ever. Her hair was loosely tied back in a small ribbon. She wore a long white robe with embellishments that were only meant to be next to her beauty. Padmé slowly turned knowing who had just came in. She looked up to him. 'She is still just as beautiful.' he thought to himself. Then he heard a voice. It was his master reminding him of his task. Anakin closed his eyes for a moment and softly breathed in and out to calm himself. Then he felt arms enveloping him. "I knew you would come back to me." He heard her faintly whisper. He involuntarily wrapped his arms around her small and fragile body. Padmé held him close for some time. Anakin winced as his master's voice kept plaguing him with thoughts and deceits that he did not know how to handle.

He suddenly pulled back almost pushing her to the ground. She was stunned by his reaction. "What is it?" she tentatively asked him as he finally looked upon her. His eyes were stinging from his tears. He just couldn't do this anymore. "Anakin," she pleaded with him, "Tell me what is wrong." She moved closer to him slowly, as if afraid of him. He reached for his jedi weapon once more as she spoke, for he did not hear her anymore. His weapon ignited and approached her gradually. "No!" was the last sound that came from her small and helpless body as Anakin swung his light saber.

He looked down upon her and softly whispered "I'm sorry. For you know nothing of the power that I have now. I must obey my master." He turned and left the room, never to return.

Author's note: I know, it's an unconventional way for Padmé to die.
Nobody wants to see it be Anakin who kills her. My thoughts on the
matter are that Anakin is under Palpatine's power and can no longer
think for himself. Palpatine has always been threatened by Padmé. In
TPM, he not only tried to kill her, but her entire planet. In AOTC,
he hired Jango Fett to kill her. What would be a better way for her
to die? Palpatine once again, is getting someone else to do his dirty
work. Anakin in this case. I think it is her death that sends him
over the edge to the dark side. As Jedi Master Yoda once said "Once
you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.
Consume you it will."
