Dearest Samwise,
I am to leave for the Grey Havens soon, by the time Butterbur gives you this letter, we will have already said our goodbyes on the harbor. However, I felt I should write you a letter just to allow me to say more to you, as you have always been and always will be my closest friend.
First, I feel I must say, I will sorely miss you, Rosie, and of course little Elanor. I realize I am fortunate to have been able to meet your little Elanor, though I wish I could have met your children who, I am sure, will eventually come. I feel just awful that I could not have watched cute little Elanor become the beautiful hobbit-lass she will eventually become. I am glad I was able to spend time with your little daughter I was honored to call niece. Tell Elanor that her 'Uncle Frodo' will miss her so much. Tell Rosie I will miss her also, and best wishes in the future for you two lovers. I remember you talking about Rosie on the journey, and I am very glad you and her finally got together. From those times as little children, you always liked Rosie, though I am sure you don't need me to tell you that. You know, I am sure, that I will miss you, my protector, gardener, and best friend.
Second, enjoy Bag End, and please allow the remnants of the Sackville-Bagginses to visit often, just do not let them get too comfortable or they will definitely stay as long as they wish. Tend to the yard as much as you wish, grow strawberries for Elanor to enjoy, and flowers for Rosie. Do not forget to tend to the tree that sprang from Galadriel's gift, it provided for all the Shire.
Sam, I am sorry if I sound as if I am lecturing you, I just feel so sad that I must go, but the Shire was not meant for me, the Ring, that cursed Ring, changed me too much. I am sorry I must leave, but I cannot pick up the remnants of my old life. I must go now Sam, you are calling me, as the Havens do.
Your good friend, Frodo ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Disclaimer: I do not own Frodo, Sam, Rosie, Elanor, or any other characters I have mentioned. I did not create any of the events Frodo speaks of, nor do I own anything from Lord of the Rings, save all the books!
Author's Note: This is my first attempt at fan fiction, so please don't hate me if you think I completely mutilated the characters. I do realize that Frodo sounds formal, but that is the way Frodo seemed to me when I read the books. Please review with constructive criticism, maybe I can make my next fan fic better. Thanks for reading!-Elenwen Dutari
