***continued***
Ginny stood outside the Malfoy mansion with one hand raised ready to knock. She had been standing like that for almost ten minutes and still she hesitated. Was she over dressed? She looked down at her white blouse and dark grey skirt and then another thought hit her. Maybe she was underdressed. Would they all laugh at her? Ginny knew she was being crazy, and after taking a deep breath she rapped her knuckles against the door three times.
A small woman in a maid's uniform opened the door and silently led her inside. Ginny looked around the dark mansion and tried not to show her surprise. She knew the Malfoy's were rich, but not THIS rich. It seemed as if everything was encrusted with gold and jewels.
"Your coat miss?"
Ginny jumped, and turned to see the maid staring at her, expressionless. She handed her the coat and the maid gestured for Ginny to follow her. Ginny kept her eyes down as she walked down the hallways and finally to Lucius's office door.
"The master's waiting for you miss, you can go on in." And with that the maid vanished. Ginny sighed, she had been hoping the maid would go in with her. She reached for the door knob and pushed the door open. The room seemed empty, and was lined with shelves and shelves of books. To her left there was a large window looking over a patch of trees and a body of water. Delighted, Ginny stepped towards it, all her fears and doubts forgotten. She was wallowing in the beauty of the view, when she heard someone behind her. She whirled around and saw Lucius Malfoy standing before her.
"I'm sorry I- I-" Ginny stammered. Lucius regarded her coldly and turned his lips in a smile which didn't quite reach his eyes.
"That's alright. It is a lovely view."
Ginny simply stared, and then realizing how rude she must look, averted her eyes, finally reaching her feet. Lucius now smiled fully and looked closely at the girl. She was good looking no doubt, and her figure was much to his taste. But there was something, something there he has never seen before. When Ginny looked back up at him with fearful eyes her realized what it was that seemed so foreign to him.
It was innocence.
