When I think about my life
I wonder if I will survive to live to see in 25
or will I just fall?
Like all my friends, they just keep dying
People 'round me always crying
In this place that I like to call my home
Not everybody knows that everybody goes to a better place
Not everybody knows that everyone could be living their last days
But the hard times will come, and we'll keep movin' on, we're movin' up
Keep movin' on
Life,
Hope,
Truth,
Trust,
Faith,
Pride,
Love,
Lust
On without the things we've lost
The things we've gained we'll take with us
And all I've got are these two hands to make myself a better man
I wonder if I'll ever see the end of this
With all this rain it just keeps falling
On my head and now I'm calling
Out to someone else to help me make it through
Not everybody knows that everybody goes to a better place Not everybody knows that everyone could be living their last days
But the hard times will come, and we'll keep movin' on, we're movin' up
Keep movin' on
Life,
Hope,
Truth,
Trust,
Faith,
Pride,
Love,
Lust,
Pain,
Hate,
Lies,
Kill,
Laugh,
Cry,
Live,
Die
Some friends become enemies
Some friends become your family
Make the best with what you're given
This ain't dying
This is living!
Said we're movin' on, and we got nothing to prove
To anyone 'cause we'll get through
We're movin' on and on and on and on...
Keep movin' on
Life,
Hope,
Truth,
Trust,
Faith,
Pride,
Love,
Lust,
Pain,
Hate,
Lies,
Kill,
Laugh,
Cry,
Live,
Die
Some friends become enemies
Some friends become your family
Make the best with what you're given
This ain't dying
This is living!
Chapter One: The Set-up
"Where's Evans?" James asked excitedly to Sirius.
Sirius quirked his eyebrows inquisitively. "Why? You've got a prank to play on her or something? This has got to be good! I haven't seen you this excited about Evans since you covered her with neon green feathers!"
James laughed at the memory. "No, Padfoot, it's not a prank. I'm gonna make a little deal with her." He grinned slyly.
"What kind of a deal? A deal with your mortal enemy?"
James nodded. "You know about my thing for Arabella?" Sirius nodded and rolled his eyes as James continued, "Yeah, well, and she's got this thing for Diggory...so I figure we can make them jealous if we go out. Is that good or what?"
"Or what," joked Sirius. "No, really, I don't think that'll work. First of all, Evans won't go for that. Second of all, why would they get jealous?"
"First of all, Evans is really desperate, she's been trying to get Diggory to notice her since our fifth year. Second of all, Arabella and Diggory are the jealous type."
Sirius shrugged. "Okay, give it a try."
After class, James pulled Lily aside. She looked very annoyed.
"What is it now, Potter?" she snapped.
James ignored her tone and grinned. "Evans, I've got a proposition for you."
Lily rolled her emerald green eyes angrily. "Potter, I'm not snogging you!"
James snorted. "Let's hope not," he said, although a very different and surprisingly pleasant picture entered his mind, which he pushed away quickly. "However, I do know how to get you snogging with Diggory."
Lily looked at him oddly. "How'd you know about...?"
James rolled his hazel eyes, annoyed. "Everybody but Diggory knows. Anyway, do you wanna hear this or not?"
Lily nodded cautiously.
"Well, I've got this thing for Arabella," he paused as Lily said, "Duh!" he rolled his eyes and continued. "Well, my idea is that if we pretend to go out, they'll get jealous and start to notice us."
"Potter, I'm not going out with you!" said Lily angrily.
"Don't flatter yourself, Evans!" said James equally angry. "It's just an act! But they're sure to notice because we both know that Diggory and Arabella are the jealous type!"
Lily thought about it for a moment before answering. "Fine, Potter, I'll think about it...I'll get back to you later..."
James just grinned and left.
Later that night, Lily came back to her dormitory from the library, exhausted. She found her best friend on her bed, which was right beside Lily's, reading a muggle magazine.
"Hey, Jess," greeted Lily.
Jess looked up and brushed her dark hair out of her light green eyes. "Hey, Lily."
Lily smiled at her friend. "What are you doing?"
"Reading," she said, her light green eyes moving slowly over her magazine. Her dark brown hair fell into her face again. She sighed impatiently and drew her hair together into a ponytail, but her eyes were still on her paper.
Lily laughed. "Yeah, Seventeen magazine that is."
Jess shrugged and put away her magazine. "Well, we're seventeen right? So, what's up?"
"Nothing...just thinking..." she said simply but her friend laughed.
"Lily, still dreaming of Diggory?"
Lily shrugged. "Kind of. Something Potter said..."
Jess eyebrows threatened to disappear into her hair. "Something Potter said?" she repeated back.
Lily nodded. "He had a proposition that if we pretended to go out, Amos and Arabella would notice us. And I'm not really sure if that's going to work. What do you think?"
"Well nothing else has worked so far," she said cautiously. "Amos will definitely get jealous if he sees you with Potter...maybe Potter does have something there..."
"So you think I should?" asked Lily.
Jess nodded. "Well, really, it's up to you. But I would, if I wanted Diggory as much as I think you want him..."
Lily nodded. "Alright. What's there to lose, right?"
Jess nodded but under her breath she said. "Hopefully your crush on Diggory."
"I'm going to bed, Jess," announced Lily.
"Alright, Lil'," answered Jess. In her mind, she was thinking about Potter's idea. She grinned to herself, Lily was thinking she was about to get her soul mate and she probably was. It just wasn't going to be Diggory if Jess could help it.
