Chapter 5: Regrets

As soon as she had said that, she regretted it. James's face hardened and his voice became cold, "Fine," he said. . He got up and left but not before saying, "Well, I guess I'll leave then, I don't want to force you to do anything."
When he left, fresh new tears streamed down Lily's face. But after a while, Lily's tears turned to hysterics. She was laughing and crying at the same time. At least now her dream would never come true. She gathered her books and went to the Gryffindor common room to look for Jess. She found her sitting on Sirius's lap and laughing at something he had just said. She decided not to disturb them and instead she went to her dormitory. She felt James's angry glare on her back all the way there.
She had been hardly alone in the dormitory for five minutes when Jess came in. She had her hands on her hips and a mock angry face.
"What are you doing here all alone, young lady?" she asked jokingly.
"It's over," Lily said simply.
Jess tried to look excited. "So, Amos asked you out?"
"No."
"Then Arabella asked Potter out?"
"No."
"Lily, then what happened?"
"I ended it. I was feeling really confused about this whole thing so I thought it would be best if we ended it."
Jess nodded. "Okay, that part is understandable, but why are you sad?"
"Because I don't want it this way," Lily whispered hopelessly.
