He awoke to find Buffy gone; she'd left the tent. A mold of her body
was still in the cot. He got up, and scratched himself, then, he left the
tent in search of the van.
He wandered through the lush forest, listening to the birds, watching the plant life. He heard laughter then a silent period, he followed the fragments of laughter he had heard to a patch of open area where the Scoobies were having their meeting.
"Hi." He said quietly to the group. Buffy patted a spot next to her. He sat down.
"What's with the quiet?" He asked.
"Turns out, that I have to kill all these vicious demon types, to save the world, again. Apocalypse now." Buffy muttered.
"That was a good movie." Xander piped up. Everyone stared at him. "Okay, embarrassed now." He looked at his feet. Anya patted him on the back.
"Riley, we're gonna need all the help we can get, can you and your men help us guard the seal?" Buffy asked putting the palm of her hand on his knee.
"Sure, we can hold the fort, but I'd rather be fighting with you all. Just like old times." He grinned softly. He was reminiscing and getting all nostalgic, he remembered the time when.... he stopped himself when he heard Anya's comment on the matter.
"Except without you doing the nasty with Buffy." Anya pointed out with an impish smile on her face. Willow had her get-her-out-of-here-or-I'm-gonna- hurl face on. Buffy rolled her eyes.
"Anya, I don't think Riley's or my sex life is YOUR business." Buffy said rudely while she made her point.
"Anya, how many times must I tell you to keep the sex talk within the Xander/Anya club, which means to ourselves?" Xander asked her in a well- meaning voice. Anya nodded her head halfheartedly.
"Can we please sustain from talking about this and get back to the subject that involves impending doom?" Giles asked in his I'm-very-annoyed-by-your- stupid-prattle voice.
"I'm already moving." Xander replied automatically.
"So any flashy majicks I can do to kill these evil sons of bitches'?" Willow smiled.
"Afraid not, so far. So far, I've come up with nothing from the archives to stop these 'sons of bitches''." Giles quoted Willow.
"I hate when there are dead ends, don't you hate them too?" Buffy asked Riley.
"Absolutely hate those dead ends." Riley smiled, running his fingers through Buffy's hair, the motion that made Buffy's spine tingle. She kissed his cheek softly and sighed.
"That settles it, dead ends equals no fun." Willow said.
"Yea, guys, it's getting' pretty close to sundown, we should probably break out the Ozarkas and P, B&J sandwiches, or if we want to get original, Bush's baked beans." Buffy said very unenthused. "We gonna sleep on the grass, or in the van?"
"Everyone can come to camp and eat, and I'm sure we have a few tents somewhere. Anyone game?" Riley asked them warmly.
"You sure? You're already violating something, civilian contact. Right?" Buffy stroked his arm slightly.
"Hey, I'm high in the ranks, I tell them you're old friends and they take you in. No prob." Riley told her. "Plus, I can probably get Graham to vacate the tent tonight, just in case you are feeling lonely. Talk-age included." Riley flirted. Xander had jealousy in his eyes.
"Okay, but you better not try anything funny, Mister." She smiled and kissed him again.
"All right everyone, go get your bags, we're going." Giles told them. Buffy got up, held Riley's hand for a moment then went to the van and gathered her things.
