"The Face of an Old Man"
Something troubles you
It can be seen in your eyes
Mysterious pools of periwinkle
Under half-moon spectacles, deep in thought
Your brow is furrowed
Full of care and concern
You know more than you let on
But share your troubles with no one
Your soft lips, sheltered
Under a delicate canopy of snow white
A canopy you have known for many-a-year
Yet, your wisdom has greatly surpassed
Your nose is long, yet crooked
A constant reminder of a past you try to hide
The delicate wrinkles on your face shown
Evermore clearly as you remember, and long to forget
All those people...
You cheeks have dampened
You have pained yourself with all the others
You hurt so many... but have paid even more dearly
To loose such an extraordinary treasure
Tears flow more freely now
You loved that boy so much
He reminded you so of your only son
The boy who lived... no longer lives
You face appears distressed
But is no comparison to what you heart is feeling
So much loss, so many fears, so much doubt
When will it all be over...
Something troubles you
It can be seen in your eyes
Mysterious pools of periwinkle
Under half-moon spectacles, deep in thought
Your brow is furrowed
Full of care and concern
You know more than you let on
But share your troubles with no one
Your soft lips, sheltered
Under a delicate canopy of snow white
A canopy you have known for many-a-year
