Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Rebel to the Dark

Buffy Summers, the slayer, stood there, in the chamber of death. A large cave hidden by magic with a platform in the centre surrounded by a large pit of flames. She'd lost everything, her friends, her family, and her slayers and now... she was about to lose her life.
"Buffy, you've lost" said the voice, the vengeance demon who'd made it all happen, D'Hoffryn, behind him were the dark slayers, invested with the power and strength of the Dark Ones. The dark slayers were two girls; one was Kat, who had been a slayer beforehand, and the other, was her sister, Dawn. Sadistic grins spread across their faces. They stood only metres away from her. "You have failed."
Buffy looked at him with a steely gaze, her soul filled with anger, she felt like retrieving the axe that lay on the platform and driving it through the demons neck. Although it was a good thought, she knew it wouldn't work like that. The dark slayers would kill her before she took two steps towards him. They no longer had hearts; the two girls were now minions to evil. It broke Buffy's heart to admit it, but she knew that Dawn wouldn't hesitate to snap her neck like a toothpick.
"Tell me something I don't know!" she spat.
"Big words for someone who had lost everything," D'Hoffryn mused, "Keep talking to me like that and I'll forget the proposition..."
"I'll never accept anything you proposed!" Buffy snapped with fury.
D'Hoffryn held up a blue finger to silence her, and then, in a blink of an eye, he was beside her. Buffy took a few steps back, shaking her head.
"Slayer, I could spare you from the horrible death that awaits you," he said softly, as if trying to soothe her, "Join us and save yourself, what have you to lose? Humanity is doomed anyway, you could embrace the power that courses through Dawn and Kathryn's veins, you could rule the world alongside us, these girls," he pointed to Dawn and Kat, "Are nothing compared to what you could be...The dark slayer champion!"
Buffy stared wide eyed at them, somehow, it made sense, it was against everything she fought for, but maybe, if she became a dark slayer, she'd have the power to make things right. She knew it wouldn't work that way, but still, she had hope.
"Buffy, I love you," Dawn said mockingly, "Join us and we could be together again!" Kat, the sweet girl who Buffy had once known, grinned sickly and nodded in agreement.
Her sister taunting her was enough. Buffy had made up her mind; she was not selling her soul to the darkness. Either way, she'd die. If she was to become the dark slayer, her soul would go to whatever awaited her and the power of the Dark Ones would infect her body. She wouldn't be herself anymore.
"No" she muttered. D'Hoffryn cocked his head to one side.
"Pardon?"
"NO!" Buffy screamed in rage, "Willow's gone, You took my sister, you killed Xander, Faith, Giles, Riley, Angel, Spike, Oz, my fellow slayers, the list goes on! There is no way I'd ever join forces with you. Never ever EVER will I go to the dark side, I'd rather die the slowest death possible!"
D'Hoffryn nodded slowly and sighed, "Such a shame, but as you wish. Dawn, Kat, Get her!"
Dawn lunged at Buffy straightaway, laughing like a madman; Kat sprinted up to her with a twisted smile. Their intention was to kill her slowly and painfully, and there was no way of fighting them off. They'd be upon Buffy within a fraction of a second. This could have been avoided; if Buffy could turn back time she would, back to six weeks ago, when it all began.
