Disclaimer: I don't own Brother Bear, I never shall, and I'm not doing this
for money. The setting is 3 years before the movie. I only own Deva and
Aquene. This might be a one shot, and put in your reviews if you want a
sequel. (We have NO idea what inspired the title. Oh yeah, Aquene means
peace)
A Peace For Eternity
It had been 6 months since the their father died. Sitka, the oldest, 19, took care of his younger siblings like a father would. Denahi, 16, hadn't tried to change, even when he got his totem earlier on that month. Kenai, 13, the youngest, tried to grow up more quickly since their fathers' death. Their mother was in the small hut, along with Tanana, the wise woman, and a few other women. She was having another child, and the three brothers sat outside, waiting.
"Denahi! Kenai! Stop fighting!" was Sitka's demand his younger brothers.
"He started it!" They replied in unison, pointing at each other.
"Am I interrupting something?" A voice said beside them. Deva stood there, looking nervous.
"No," Sitka sighed as the two siblings started to fight again.
"The men were wondering if you were going hunting..." Deva said slowly.
He shook his head slowly.
"Sitka! He bit me!"
"Kenai! Stop biting! I told you, knock it off!" With that, he grabbed them by the collar and pushed them slightly, causing them to clunk their heads together.
"Ow...."
They rubbed their foreheads, groaning in pain. Deva laughed, and Kenai glared at her.
"It isn't THAT funny," he growled, rubbing his head.
A small cry was heard from inside the hut. Sitka took a quick look inside, and Denahi and Kenai stopped rubbing their foreheads. Tanana walked out slowly, a smile on her face. She was holding the infant, wrapped in a blanket. It gave another tiny mewl.
"You have a new sister," Tanana said softly. Sitka took the child, and Denahi, Kenai and Deva looked on curiously. "I'm sorry, but your mother's..." After those words, Tanana smile dropped. Sitka nodded slowly. Denahi looked shocked, and Kenai said nothing. He felt as his sibling had taken his their mother's life. Deva slowly turned her head away, and started to cry. She felt sorry for the child. Like her, she had never known her mother.
"Aquene," Sitka said softly. "Her name's Aquene. After mom."
Denahi nodded in agreement. Kenai nodded also. Denahi liked the idea that their sister was going to be named after their mom, but Kenai didn't like the idea at all.
"You have a choice. You can take care of her, or have another family take care of her," Tanana said.
"We'll take care of her." Aquene gave another mewl.
FIN
So, should we make a sequel? As I said, review us, and tell us if ya want a sequel. As it turns out, Deva's name is really Hebrew. Oh, well, like the name anyways.
