A/N: More Remus/Tonks fluff, very sappy and romantic this time.

It began after she was sent home from the hospital. During her time there, he had been almost constantly at her side, leaving only to get food and sleep a few hours every night.

When she returned to Grimmauld Place, they began spending the evenings together. The house would finally get quiet, he would make tea, and they would curl up on a comfy couch in front of a roaring fire in one of the many sitting rooms.

Often they would talk, he would talk about his exploits with his friends at school, and she would relate tales from her childhood, of various disguises she would use to irritate her parents or play jokes on her friends.

Sometimes, they would say nothing, and sit in amiable silence, taking comfort in each other's presence, lost in their own thoughts.

They never talked about what had happened in the Department of Mysteries.

She supposed it was inevitable that she would start to love him. He was one of the gentlest souls she had ever met, with a dry sense of humour that often took her by surprise. He was strong, so strong, and yet vulnerable, scarred by all that he had been through in his life, both physically and emotionally. And yet, still he was standing.

He found himself taking comfort in her youth, her vivacity, her constant good cheer and optimism. She kept him sane. She made him laugh, as he had not laughed in years, and for this he loved her. She was a loving soul, and he felt blessed to have even a small piece of her heart.

So it was that one evening, a few days before Christmas, they stayed up quite late into the night, chatting amiably about this and that.

He looked at his watch and chuckled. "We really ought to go to bed. It's almost 2 AM."

They got up, heading towards the hallway. They stopped in the door to say their goodnights, when she looked up and smiled. "Mistletoe," she said quietly.

He looked up, blushed a little, and started to protest, but it was cut short as she leaned forward and kissed him softly. The kiss deepened, until they seemed to be sharing their breath, their very life.

In that moment, there was nothing in the world save each other, and they were complete.
