[Notes] An Utena+Miki drabble. Made Miki with blue eyes because that's what the picture shows on the back of the 2nd manga.

[Disclaimer] Chiho Saito stole it from me, I swear…. Just kidding… I don't own this and never have. So pooh.

Utena Tenjou sighed as she took in her treasured scent of roses. The moonlight shone on the Student Council garden. It was a beautiful night, the moon was full, and the roses were in bloom, aroma sweet as ever. She played with the petals of a rose, reminiscing of the last time she had sat in the night amongst blooming roses. It was with her mother. She couldn't even remember her mother's face… just her strawberry blonde hair slipping out of its ponytail over her shoulders. A tear fell on the rose Utena was holding, and she jerked up at the sight of it. She wasn't supposed to cry, princes didn't ever cry. At least, that was what she told herself as she rubbed furiously at her eyes, making sure no more tears would come out.

'Utena?' startled by the voice coming from the garden door, she turned sharply, pink hair flying about behind her with the wind. It was Miki. What was he doing here? Well, of course, this is the Student Council garden, isn't it? She thought to herself. I shouldn't even be in here… whatever.

'Hi Miki!' she greeted him warmly. It was a bit lonely in the garden… not that it mattered.

'What are you doing here? Don't you have that math test tomorrow?' he asked.

'Oh. Right… well I studied… and I just came down here for a bit… but then I started thinking… and…' she went on.

'Utena? Were you crying?' Miki inquired after coming closer. Utena stopped talking. She had been rubbing her eyes before… they must've been awfully red by now. I should've just left it alone… He sat down on the bench next to her… looking right into her bright blue eyes.

'Well…I… a little…' she admitted. She felt more comfortable telling Miki, somehow, like he would understand.

'What makes you sad?' Miki said as Utena looked back down.

'My.' Utena paused. Looking back into Miki's dark blue eyes, full of love and kindness, she found will to continue. 'My parents died when I was six. I haven't thought of it much, until now. This night… the moonlight… the blooming roses… they remind me of my mother.'

'Oh. I'm sorry.' Miki tore his gaze away from Utena.

'Yeah… it's okay now though.' There was a long silence before either of them said anything. It was Miki who finally did.

'Utena, would be okay if I…' he stopped. Maybe it was better not to.

'If you what Miki?' Utena asked, only a bit curious.

Miki turned and kissed her, gently, and then pulled away to see what Utena's response would be.

'I'm sorry… I shouldn't have…' he started to say. But Utena stopped him. Cupping his chin with one hand, she brought his slender face closer to his for another, longer kiss. Miki reached a hand around the back of Utena's neck to draw her closer, widening his mouth as to let the kiss grow deeper.

'I love you Miki.'

'I love you too Utena'

That night, Utena returned to the room she shared with Anthy shortly after dawn. The rose bride was already up and making breakfast, and only raised an eyebrow at her Lady Utena's late… or rather early entrance.
