Goten rocketed through the sky, not caring what was in his way or if it could cause him harm. He was getting to his brother, just to prove to them all that they were wrong! He was absolutely fine!
"GOHAN, YOU'RE TOO STRONG TO GET KILLED BY A STUPID VIRUS!" He screamed and added to his already maxed out speed. Before he even reached the city limits, he felt a shift in power. Suddenly, he no longer felt his father or brother's ki at the house.

"Instant transmission..." He muttered. If his father were to use it, it would have to be serious... "no!" He turned around, seeing two dots in front of the Capsule Corp. He would deny it further, but he became overcome by devastated realization. Struggling to keep the tears back, he shot back to the entrance of the building, to find that his father was carrying Gohan to front doors.

"DAD!" Goten cried. Goku turned back, a stoic look on his face, but upon further examination Goten could see that his eyes were red, and forced back tears were evident. Goten forced his eyes on his older brother, who looked lifeless. He took shaking steps forward, unable to register how Gohan could possibly fall victim to a disease... "You're... You're stronger than this, Gohan..." Goten choked, now standing right in front of him.

"Goten, take this vile and get it to Bulma, she might be able to make more medicine, hurry!" Goku said, showing him a tiny bottled tied to his belt. Goten took it and ran inside, fighting off the violent urge to cry. 'There's hope... Bulma's going to make medicine... It's going to be fine!!!'

It's going to be fine...

***************

He ran into the lab, and handed Bulma the bottle. She paused a moment to examine Goten's state, but realized that she wouldn't be able to do much to calm him, and decided to leave it to his family and friends. She rushed off to figure out the ingredients and make more as soon as possible. Goten walked out of the lab and closed the door. He leaned up against a wall, and allowed himself to slide down in a sitting position.

"Gohan..." He whispered, feeling himself once again lose control. The image of his helpless looking brother haunted him, and he let loose in a rage of tears.

****************

She tapped her pencil on her desk, calculus homework in front of her, attempting to find questions to ask Gohan when he got there. "I don't understand squat on this..." She muttered, laying her head down on her desk. "I wish you were here now..."

Videl blinked and checked her clock. He should have been here by now... "6:47?!?" She exclaimed. "He said he'd be here by six!!!" He was NEVER late, not for a good reason at least! Curious, she went over to her phone, picked up, and dialed. His home phone wasn't working... "No one's picking up... how odd... Someone's always home..." Now curiosity was becoming worry. He wasn't here. He wasn't at home. Where could he be? She tried his cell phone; he always carried it with him in case of an emergency. She paused before dialing the last number, but made herself press it. The phone rung once. Twice. Her heart began to pound. What if he didn't answer the phone...? Three times now. She was about to hang up, when suddenly, someone picked up.

"Oh, thank goodness! Gohan, where..."

"No, this is his mother," Someone said in a raspy voice. She sounded upset.

"Oh, excuse me, Mrs. Son... Could you tell me where Gohan is?"

There was a long pause. Fear pricked at Videl's heart.

"Who is this?" She asked.

"I'm Videl Satan, a classmate of Gohan's. He was supposed to tutor me tonight," She said. "He hasn't shown up yet, and I'm getting worried,"

Another long pause. Videl was about to say something further...

"He won't be able to make it," She finally said.

"...why?"

"He's sick. Really sick. He might be out of class for a while,"

"It's that bad?" She was puzzled. Gohan was one of the healthiest people she knew, and as far as she knew, he had never been sick a day in his life.

"Worse than that, actually..." Chi-Chi began to sniffle. "...Are you a really good friend of his?"

Now it was Videl's turn to pause. She and Gohan seemed to become really friendly since the beginning of the school year, but she didn't know it that would classify as 'close'.

"...I think so," She said finally, unsure of where her feelings for him stood. "I don't know how he feels about me, though,"

"You might want to come see him... He's at the Capsule Corp, if you really care,"

"Of course I care!" She was only talking to the dial tone, she found. She became really scared. She stared at the phone in disbelief. Although she had no idea what was going on, she was going to figure out.

Figure out if Gohan's really THAT sick...?

Something more than that, Videl.
