Goku's Hell
I can see that there has been a fight. A bad one, by the looks of it. From my vantage point on the ground (must have been where I fell) I can easily see the pieces of youkai that are scattered here and there. Gojyo must have really let them have it. How long have I been out? Must have been a while.
Then I see him, or rather his crimson hair, stained with blood. He is not moving. He is lying face down, his back in a mangle of skin and fabric. I can smell his blood. I yell his name, hoping that he is not...but he is. I want to run to him, turn him over and tell him to wake, but I can feel a heavy weight on me and I can't move my left arm.
I try to turn my head to get a close look at this weight when I see another shape I recognize. Hakkai... He is lying on his back with his eyes open. He is looking at me, but the blood coming from his throat and hair means that he is clearly dead too.
Goyjo, even though I hated his insults, was like a brother. Hakkai, the way he cared for me, like a mother. I want to hold them, shake them, wake them up. But I can't get close. I start to cry. I remember this happening before. One dead bird and, at the time, one little boy who only wanted to hold his friend one last time.
Where is Sanzo? I bet those bastard youkai took him. I have to get up, I have to move. I move my left arm to pull it free. Then I feel it. The blood on my hand. The robes wrapped around it. I realize that the weight against me is Sanzo. His hand is outstretched toward my ear, reaching for my diadem.
Oh, my gods, Sanzo! Please don't be dead. I love you! You can't be! I manage to get up and gently roll him onto his back. There I find a scene of utter horror to me. My hand is...in...his chest. I pull it out quickly and it is covered with the life that used to be my sun. He is not breathing. I bury my face in his golden hair and I cry.
The realization suddenly hits me. Someone removed my diadem. I did...this.
Then I hear laughter. And a voice.
"Magnificent, Seiten Taisen! Thank you. I owe you one. Or should I say three? Perhaps we three will do instead? Come with me now."
That voice! I look up and standing over me, with his hand outstretched, is Homura. I scream.
And then I wake up.
Hakkai is cooking breakfast while Gojyo is having a smoke. They are talking, laughing, Gojyo running his fingers down Hakkai's shoulder. Sanzo is reading the news. His golden hair shining in the sun. Hakkai smiles and I smile back. I am relieved to find them here and well. But I am shaken. How long? How long until that nightmare that I have had for the past few nights becomes reality? How long until Homura slips behind me and yanks off my diadem?
I look up and realize that the sun is shining brighter than usual. The sky extremely blue and I wonder where Homura is right now...
"Right here, Seiten Taisen." Homura says as he looks into the glass ball where Goku lives now. "You see? I have given it back to you. Your perfect world. As you have given mine to me. But should I need you, I know where to find you." Homura deposits the glass ball back into the glass cabinet. He then turns to his love, and smiles.
