Silence filled the village of Rivendell. Legolas looked around and he felt
tall and proud perched high upon his horse, WhiteLight. Gimli was on his
left, and when Legolas looked over, he saw that Gimli's eyes were watering.
Legolas looked ahead again and Aragorn had stopped right in front of the
gate, where Lord Elrond had his hand held high, and standing next to him
was Arwen. The crowds in the streets were adorned in black and were dead
silent. It was little after day break
Lord Elrond took a deap breath and began his speech. "Elves of Rivendell. Visiting Men. We give our blessings to the Four. Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli and Borin will be leaving today on a new mission. Sauruman has begun his road to power again, and these four, brave companions will cut him off before it is too late."
He closed his eyes and put his hand on Aragorn's forhead. He muttered, "Godspeed with thy every step, and may the spirits of the Lord's protect you." But no one could hear him. He kissed Aragorn on the forhead and stepped back. Then Arwen stepped forward and also kissed Aragorn on the forhead, and her hands clung to his hair. Her eyes were closed tightly, as though she was trying not to cry, and she whispered something. She let go and Legolas stepped foreward. Lord Elrond repeated the same ritual and Arwen kissed them all on the forehead. Now the four were all lined up in front of the gate and each of their horses stood impatiently, bucking their heads back and such.
Lord Elrond faced th crowds and spoke in a grave tone. "I would usually not let them go off in front of crowds in fear of too much attention, but if they don't come back," he glanced at them, "then I want you to give your good-bye's now." Each person in the crowd whispered a good-bye, and some people cryed. Gimli cried out, "Do not cry for us, or we shall feel your emotions too! Instead, cheer us on and fill us with the spirit of battle!" The crowd looked up from their neighbors shoulders and blinked, very surprised. They looked around and some began to smile, and there was a laugh or two. Someone shouted a 'good luck!'. Gimli smiled happily and the crowds cheered. "Go! Sauruman is waiting!" Elrond raised his arms and the gates opened, creaking and squeaking as they went. The Four waited for a moment; they stood motienless. But then they shot off on their horses and soon they became a dust ball in the distance.....to the crowds anyways.....Elrond sighed as they rode farther and farther away, and then took Arwen by the hand and led her swiftlty and silently away to Elrond's home.

Elrond was still holding Arwen's hand as he dragged her into her own room. He then took her other hand and looked straight into her eyes. There were tears there and she was itching to wipe them away. She looked down and blinked hard. "W-what do you want, f-father?"
"I saw what happened here," he replied slowly to her question. "I saw it before it even happened."
"Of course you did," said Arwen a little more firmly, but softly. "You can see everything. You have seen us many times before."
"Well, how many times am I going to tell you that you are not right for each other? Many times before you have grieved his absence, but, like I keep telling, he is a Man and you are and Elf. Aragorn will die and you will grieve his death for a thousand years. I do not like to repeat myself, but it seems that I am going to have to. Leave him behind you and find someone else, which I do not advise, or go to the Gray Havens." He let go of her hands and turned around, clasping his hands behind his back. Sighing, he said, "I love you, but how many times have I requested that?....."
"Too many. And I will not give up on him and I will not leave. How many times have I told you that?"
"I understand....."
"No," said Arwen through gritted teeth. "No. You don't. You never will." And with that she gave a choked sob and ran out of the room. Lord Elrond only gave a quick glance over his shoulder and sighed.....again. This had happened before, and it was now happening again.
(( Yeah, readers, I know ! This end scene is very similiar to the scene in one of the movies *memory blank*.....please don't get mad and say that I have a terrible story and that I am only good for copying, 'cause I'm not!.....And this may seem too late, but I do not own any character except for Borin.....so far.....and this is my first story so please expect better stories later on! Thank you! ))
