...And was suddenly launched across the room. It slammed into the wall, ash.
Imbedded in the wall was a sword with the strangest grip he'd ever seen.
It was more like a handle then a grip. Seras screamed. Matthew turned and
understood why. There stood the tallest man he'd ever seen in his life; at
least seven feet tall. He had dark tanned skin and short light blonde hair
with piercing green eyes staring out from a pair of glasses and a scar
along his left cheek. He wore a long trench coat and had a huge silver
cross hanging from his neck. His white gloves had writing on them, but
Matthew couldn't read it. He was certainly an imposing figure. Matthew
snatched up his other browning and pointed both at him. If Seras was
getting freaked, then there was something to fear from this man. However,
he made no threatening moves. He raised his hands. "I am now unarmed,
vampire," he spoke with a Scottish accent. "That was my only sword. I am
not here to attack ya, only to give ya information." He paused. "Unless
ya'd rather shoot me, that is."
Reluctantly, Matthew lowered his guns to his sides, but he did not holster them. "Who are you?"
The man looked at Seras, who had somewhat recovered and had gotten to her feet. "Ya haven't told him about me? I'm hurt," he said, rather sarcastically. "I would've thought ya'd tell him about the folks me might be facin' out here. I am Paladin Alexander Anderson of the Iscariot organization." He slowly lowered his hands. "Sorry, they were gettin' a little tired. Now, as I was saying, I've got some information for ya. The Iscariot organization has been hearin' whispers of some new vampire tryin' to make a home for himself here. Some vampire with skills like Hellsing's pet Alucard. It may be that we need to, temporarily, put aside our differences and work for the greater good." Slowly, he reached into his trench coat and equally slowly pulled out an envelope. "This is what we know right now. It includes information on how to contact us. We'd appreciate ya sendin' us anythin' ya know about this new threat." He set it on a nearby table and slid it towards Matthew. "If ya want to work together, give me a call." With that, he walked over to the sword stuck in the wall, yanked it out, and promptly left.
Matthew turned to Seras. "I take it that's not common." She shook her head. "We'll talk about it later." He carefully grabbed the envelope, and when it didn't explode he held it tight, then stuffed it into his jacket pocket. He heard gunfire from another part of the building. Alucard was still in battle against the master. Matthew turned to Seras and smiled. His eyes told her all she would need to know. Without a word, Matthew grabbed the Valkyrie and ran to the hall and towards the library, reloading the cannon as he ran.
He passed through the destroyed door of the library. Matthew was more then certain he wouldn't need to fire. Alucard would probably shoot him for it. He simply moved into the room to watch the master vampire in action. 'Let's see how my master's master fights,' he thought as Seras came up behind him.
Matthew was very impressed. Alucard stood in the center of the room, holding an impossibly large handgun. Looks like a casull,' Matthew noted. The enemy vampire had a pair of uzis, and was constantly moving around the room to avoid Alucard's fire. Alucard simply stood in place, tracking the vampire with his one gun. He didn't even turn to face his opponent, meaning he was firing behind himself. Quite accurately at that. Alucard looked... bored?
"Oh, come on!" Alucard yelled to the enemy vampire. "You can do better then that, 'Master'!" Again, 'master' was said with more sarcasm then Matthew had ever heard used.
"I'm just getting warmed up!" the vampire replied before leaping directly at Alucard, both guns firing.
Alucard ignored the bullets tearing into him. From inside his trench coat he produced a second handgun; a black pistol as large if not larger then the casull. He waited until the vampire was directly ahead of him before firing. Suddenly, the enemy vampire found himself disarmed... literally... Fear covering his face, the vampire tried to flee. He didn't get far before Alucard took him down with one final precise shot. With a vexing sigh, Alucard slid his guns back under his trench coat as his wounds quickly healed. Finally, he looked at Matthew and Seras. "Some 'master'," he said. He shook his head and walked off through the nearest wall.
Matthew looked to Seras. "Wow... He's good."
"That's an understatement. You should seem him at full power," she replied.
"Full power?" He lightly shuddered. "I'm not sure I want to know... Anyway," he said, trying to change the subject, "I think we've done enough damage around here. You all right?"
"I will be. Let's move."
::Thirty Minutes Later::
They had arrived back at the Hellsing facility without incident, having left the scene to the clean up teams. Fargason debriefed them. "Final tally shows all targets were silenced. Our teams are currently looking over the master vampire's notes and trying to determine what he was up to. The Iscariot information is also being gone over, but we don't expect any results for a day or two. For now, get some rest. You've earned it."
"Thank you, sir," Seras replied. Matthew nodded and repeated her. The two vampires left the room and started down the corridor.
"So," Matthew began, "has Alucard stopped complaining about how 'easy' the master vampire was to kill?"
"Not quite yet. Knowing him, it'll be well into tomorrow before he's finally over it."
"A question, if I may." Seras gestured for him to continue. "What's with that Alexander guy? Why'd he freak you out so much?"
"I've fought him before. Well, more accurately, he's attacked me before and Alucard saved me. I got a sword through my neck for my trouble the first time." She rocked her head back to show the scar.
"Ouch..."
"You can say that again. His swords are blessed, so they tend to hurt a great deal. I think that one was silver plated, else it wouldn't have been so effective against that one vampire."
"Yeah." Something in his mind clicked. "Wait... Alucard fought him, and he's still alive?"
"That's the thing. It seems that Alexander cannot die. He is a human regenerator. He can recover body parts like Alucard can, all be it not as quickly in some cases. Considering his condition now, it definitely seems like he can regrow lost limbs."
"Ack... Let's hope we don't have to fight him anytime soon."
Seras sighed. "We can only hope... Anyway, what are your plans for the night?"
Matthew yawned. "Bed. Lost a good amount of rest to that nightmare, so I'm really in need of some sleep."
Seras smiled. "Pleasant dreams, then. I'll see you in the morning."
"Thanks." He started down the corridor to his room. Entering, he tossed the jacket onto a chair, vowing to repair the rip in its sleeve soon, flopped onto his bed, and was asleep in moments.
Reluctantly, Matthew lowered his guns to his sides, but he did not holster them. "Who are you?"
