I don't own Ranma 1/2
~*~*~*~*~*~
As he often did when faced with a problem, Ranma found himself perched on the roof of the Tendou home
in the middle of the night. It wasn't so much that he particuarly cared for the view, though it was nice,
but rather that it was a quiet sactuary from the cloud of chaos that seemed to continually hover over him
like the plauge.
However, on this night he was joined by another. He enjoyed her company, and it was technically her
problem too, so it did seem fitting that she join him. That sat in silence for some time, a rare thing for
them, gazing at the stars and contemplating their next move. Finally, Akane chose to break the silence.
"We have to do something!"
"Why play by their rules," he parried evenly. "Why not play by ours?"
"They're our fathers," Akane said mildly, knowing how little the words meant at this point. "We
should obey them...."
"And where has that gotten us in the past?" Ranma turned to her, slate blue eyes intense. "I did that
when I was little. Three fiancees later, I finally figured out to stop listening to Pops."
They lasped into silence again, as Akane had no reponse. After several strained moments she broke the
silence yet again. "It would be nice though...."
"Have you forgotten what happened last time?"
"No! I could never forget that! But our way isn't exactly what I'd always hoped for either. It's
not exactly what a girl dreams of."
"We get the same results either way," Ranma reasoned, putting an arm around her shoulder. "And our
way is easier and a heck of a lot less dangerous."
"I know," she sighed, leaning into his warmth.
"If I may make a suggestion?" The couple leaned over the side of the roof to see a very disgruntled
Nabiki peering up at them. They shrugged at each other, and Ranma scopped up his fiance and lept nimbly
down.
"Alright, what should we do," questioned Akane as Ranma set her down.
"One, you should stop holding midnight conversations above my bedroom. Some people in this house do
like their sleep, thank you very much." She paused, procuring two slips of paper out of....somewhere, the
couple couldn't tell. "Secondly, you should take these, pack your things, and get the heck out of here
before morning." Ranma reached out and took the train tickets, receiving an affirmative nod from Akane.
"Well, I guess it's out way then. Thanks, Nabiki."
"We'll right once we're married and settled," Akane assured her.
"I'll try to stall the others," Nabiki told them. "You are aware that they'll come after you?"
The pair nodded grimly. "Be careful sis. Wish I could be there to see you two married off, and I know
Kasumi would too. It's better this way though, no chance of disaster like last time."
Nabiki swept back in through the front door, while Ranma snatched Akane back up and through her
window. They gathered a few belongings and stole back out through the same window.
