Note: Sorry about the format guys...not everything comes out as I want it to
(the prologue's spacing was a little messed up). Anyway, I'll try to cut
down on the author note this time. Thank you Kerei Kitsune and Bee for
reading and reviewing, as well as giving me some good tips, advice, and
compliments. Thanks again :). Oh, and I own Alenien. Here goes the first
chapter. God bless!!!
Chapter 1
Naqita strolled through the Gerudo Fortress on her way to the horse stalls and found herself carefree for the time being. Today, she was unusually happy and no person, even herself, knew why. Normally, she would be worrying about others attacking her home. This was because it had been over a year since a battle had taken place and she had begun to grow weary as the days went on and no one attempted any form of assault. However, she wondered if maybe this was because the last battle they fought involved the Keioa tribe. They were known for being wonderful warriors and invincible in wars, but after the Gerudos defeated them, that changed. Perhaps after all had heard this news, people decided to prepare more before attempting to fight. Shaking her head, she began to think back on their last battle. The Keioas lived in a far away land, though they found the Gerudos important enough to travel to Hyrule for. They ambushed the fortress at nightfall and the battle continued on till the next day. It was a marvelous victory for the Gerudos, yet it came at such a high cost.
Everything began to fade around Naqita until she found herself running through and around groups of Gerudos and Keioas. She clutched her sword in her right hand and adorned the Gerudo armor only those of the royal family wore while fighting. The battle was turning out well and it looked as though the Keioans were becoming weakening. Some were even spotted retreating as soon as the battle's end was coming about. Naqita ran atop a stray rock, jumping and climbing until she could stand upon a fairly good sized boulder. She peered across the desert that her people called home in search of her dear friend, Shailena. She had been fighting by her side, but was missing when Naqita found herself surrounded. After fighting her way out of the group, only a small cut marking her arm, she began to search for Shailena. After about 10 minutes or so, she had decided to get to some clearer ground and search for her, which is where she found herself now. Her eyes caught sight of nothing at first until she heard a familiar voice calling out for help. Naqita quickly looked in the direction and found that her friend, badly beaten, was galloping by in the arms of the enemy. Without a moment's hesitation, Naqita whistled a sharp tune. The pounding of hooves could be heard growing louder upon the ground until a handsome black stallion appeared from the sandy mist. Naqita instantly jumped onto his back and clicked her tongue, making him gallop faster than before.
"Hurry, Alenien, we must get Shailena back." Whispered Naqita as she lowered her head to her horses' level.
The Keioa that had captured Shailena grinned as he began to disappear from their view, getting closer and closer to his escape point. He knew that soon, they would reach Gerudo Valley and he was home free afterwards. Alenien pushed as hard as he could, but the Keioan maneuvered his horse through whatever obstacles he could to lead Naqita and Alenien off. Though both tried as hard as they could, they eventually lost sight of Shailena and her kidnapper.
"Come back!" Naqita yelled, though she did not expect the man to obey her command.
Upon reaching the Gerudo Valley, her friend was indeed no where to be seen.
"Shailena!" Naqita cried out as her voice became a bit shaky. She looked around, her eyes clouded with dust and sand.
"Where are you...?" She asked herself quietly. "Please...please come back!"
Normal surroundings began to return to Naqita as she found herself inside the horses' stall house, her original destination. Her arm was supporting herself from falling and tears were beginning to swell in her eyes as she stabled herself and made her way to where Alenien patiently waited in his stall for her every day. Her hands trembled as she went on with her routine, trying to calm herself. Before long, Alenien was out of the stable house and trotting down the trail towards the Gerudo Valley with Naqita on his back. For quite awhile, they traveled slowly down a path. An all too familiar one to Naqita. The path lead to the large tree trunks that welcomed the visitor into Kokiri Forest. Smiling slightly, she remembered when she had met another friend in that place. But he was gone now, as well. She slowed Alenien to a stop and stared at the unique entrance, debating on whether or not she should go in. Deciding against it, she lowered Alenien's reigns and he began to walk again, slowly progressing to a beautiful trot.
Well, what did you think? I'm not sure if that's what you meant by spacing out when people talk or not...is it? I don't know. And sorry for the long wait, the chapter was long and I had to edit a bit. Anyway, R/R if you want. Thanks. God bless!!!
